The others that review this school are most likely still angry and troubled. I attended Hathaway as a teen. I was not a child to get into trouble. I simply had parents who did not want children. I was an academically gifted student and When I was first accessed at Hathaway, they test me and could not figure out a place to put me. Fortunately, they made the wise decision to put me in double grade classes. I was supoposed to be in 9th and the put me in a 10/11th grade combo. Unlike these other reviewers, I hated public school-there I was not challanged, I was just a number, At Hathaway, I finally had great teahers who challenged me to think. As a mattoer of fact, I may donate to them. Because without the love of the staff, I could have turned out far worse off.

As a former student, I cant tell you first hand that the school is severely lacking in proper age-appropriate curriculum. Unfortunately this has been the case with every foster care/placement connected school I've attended. We never had homework, we never had to study. They improperly diagnosed my sister with dyslexia because she was too shy to read aloud. Most parent do not have a choice if their child attends this school since they were generally removed from the home in the first place....but if you do, do not send your child here. Just because its a private school doesnt mean its going to give your child a good education.

Inadequate supervision for daily behavioral intervention and residential living spaces; constant shortages of live-in personnel in remote boot-camp like facility impedes student progress and adequate safety.

Poor education. The school needs to challenge these kids more! The school is rated as kids with disabilities, as far as I know these kids do not have any disabilities. They are rated as kids with disabilities because they are all wards of the state(meaning foster or probation kids), does not necessarily mean that these kids have disabilities!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
