I heard a lot of stories about this school before my son entering to it but I am satisfied just except few teachers correspondences. Overall it is a good school.
Its really nothing special, not bad,not great. There are a few very good teachers, but for the most part, they are average.
I am a 7th grader at Magruder and it is a great school. We do a lot of things, for ex. we had a halloween carnival and it was fun. This school has high scores. Some of the teachers are great. But, overall this school is a great school to go to.
Magruder Middle School always has something exciting going on. There are many clubs, like the Service Club where we help the city of Torrance.
This school a former elementary school, and even though there is no gym, the school recently installed a state-of-the-art fitness center. They have high test scores, which continue to climb thanks to the efforts of the teacher who do not allow students to give up. I think the staff is amazing and they get kids to understand personal responibility as well as academic subjects.
This school has really turned things around. The Magruder staff and leadership have pushed hard to make this a five STAR campus!
I'm currently a 7th grader, and Magruder is a pretty average school. Magruder Middle School is a good school in academics, and our PE teachers always work hard to keep us in shape. Given that we scored highest on various levels of STAR testing, etc., we are still working to improve our status. We have been burdened with a bad reputation, but our students, including myself, will work to improve until we are the top of TUSD.
from my experience this school is great they maintain great test scores, excelent teachers and make the enviornment safe for the children.
This school shines in two areas, those being, science that prepares the middle school child for the grueling pace of high school and Jr. college science courses. The instructor is tough but good. Secondly is their algebra program that is at a slower pace ensuring a solid background before high school. Half of this algebra class is tought in middle school while the second half is tought in the 1st year of high school. This school is an old elementary school and does not have a gym or locker room. Physical activity is very minimal. This school also seems to suffer from not enough funding as this children are asked to do fundraising for band and P.E. as well as the school as a whole.
This school has exhibited a whole new attitude and demeanor over the past two or three years. It seems that the excuses that used to accompany the perception of failure are no longer heard. One person who continually spoke about the low quality of the school has replaced the former complaints with saying improvement has been luck. But now that kind of statement is not heard too often. What ever has been happenings is a reward for the folks who have worked hard to make the improvements take place. From conversations it seems new leaders are springing up where none existed. These are good changes and good results.
