This school is awesome! It's amazing what the Principal, teachers and staff do for these kids! EXCELLENT little school!
LOve, Love, LOve, Torrance Elementary! First rate Principal, Office staff, and Teachers. I am finishing up the last of 4 children at Torrance El. and I will miss it greatly. There is something to be said when teachers, who have been layed off due to economic cuts in funding, VOLUNTEER, to help. The recent Spring Carnival had a food booth sponcered by former PTA presidents from Torrance El! I am dismayed when parents in the neighborhood opt to send their children to different schools. Torrance El. has a hugely diverse economic and ethnic popultaion. Each student has and EQUAL oppertunity to learn and contribute to the best of their ability. Teachers and Principal support each other to give the absolute BEST to each child! Yay! Torrance Elementary!!!
I have 3 kids at this school from kinder to 5th. Despite our government's cuts to education, Torrance El continues to provide an excellent education to ALL students. Parents are getting more involved, teachers are caring and knowledgeable, and we are very lucky to have the BEST principal EVER!
My daughter has been there for this year only and I am so sad it's already time for her to move on to middle school. I say that only because of what a great experience it has been for both of us. Mr. Yepez is the best Principal I've ever encountered! All of the staff was a pleasure to deal with. I hope we're lucky enough to get the same treatment at Levy! Thanks for making our last year at elementary school a memorable one!
Great school...Highly recommended...Great teaching staff and wonderful and caring principal! I rate this school and staff a 10+....
Very happy and proud to part of 'Torr El'! My child is doing very well, and we both feel the benefits of this little community. The principal is very approachable. He is also young and friendly and charismatic. The kids like him and have respect for him. There is always so much going on! I am amazed every day at how much these kids learn. The office staff is very helpful and kind, which means so much. This is very important to me. There are no wrong questions to ask, and personal requests are usually honored. The main goal here is to take care of the children, to educate them and to help them grow into wonderful adults. I absolutely recommend this school. They are doing a GREAT job.
This is our son's first year at this school and the principal, office staff, and teachers are wonderful and supportive. It is great to see the principal outside greeting students and parents. He is also very approachable. The afterschool program, which is run through the Torrance Parks and Rec, is also a very good program. My son is very happy in his new school.
Many families in our community miss out by assuming their children should go to a different elementary school. Torrance Elem is a great school, providing a great education to our children, and creating positive associations regarding school that will last a lifetime.
I've had friends tell me horror stories about the schools their children attend. They tell me about teachers that are waiting to retire and principals with no backbones! I have two children at Torrance El and every teacher has been a blessing. The support staff in the office is awesome. And the principal is all about the students, education, and involvement. What also impresses me is the way the PTA, the teachers, and the staff work together to improve the school. What would really impress me is more state funding to California schools.
Principal Gerardo Yepez, the teachers, and all the support staff make Torrance Elementary a first class elementary school. Since Mr. Yepez arrived at Torrance El, there has been an increase in parent involvement. I have two children at Torrance El and they only have great things to say about their teachers. What the TUSD needs to do is put music and art back into the school system.
