I have had 2 children go though Glenshire with completely different needs. Both needs were met and addressed openly with my opinion in mind. Every school in the Tahoe Truckee area has its pros and cons, you just need to find the school that fits your CHILD the best.

Glenshire Elementary is a wonderful school with extremely talented and dedicated staff. The principal is fantastic - she leads her staff with enthusiasm and has high expectations for her staff and all students. She is very receptIve to parent participation and input. The PTO is very active and supportive and provides enrichment programs to students. Parent volunteering is common and consistent and provides a great community feeling. Teachers at Glenshire obviously love their job and love the kids. It's the best learning environment. Student's art and projects decorate the halls of the school. An improvement I would lime to see throughout the district is more science education.

wow. what a disappointment. i kept hearing how GREAT "glenshire el" is, but really, it's quite bad. there is no art, no foreign language, HUGE class sizes. for PE, the kids walk around the school - how depressing! i made an appointment to talk to the principle, wondering what is going on - what can be done? her automatic response was "well, it's just gonna get worse." we changed schools the next week (my kids are now at "custom learning" in tahoe donner). glenshire elementary school is just plain BAD. i feel sorry for the parents who believe otherwise.

A lot of time talking and nothing getting done. Frustrated teachers and poor leadership. The school needs to teach the kids not push them through.

Although our fifth grader only attended this school for half a year, for logistical reasons, we could not have been more pleased. An amazing 5th grade teacher - Mrs. B. - plus a full time assistant teacher and a rotation of parent volunteers created an environment where each and every child received individual attention and mentoring. The children thrive and perform at a high level in improving their academic and social skills. The faculty do a fantastic job running the school and a high level of parent participation enables this school to offer a great K-5 education. Great field trips including an overnight to Pigeon Point Lighthouse, trips to Sagehen Field Station, Art galleries etc. A great academic, inclusive, integrated and caring school.

I have been a teacher at Glenshire Elementary for 10 years and both of my boys spent their elementary career here. The teachers I work with are exceptional. They are professional, creative, thorough, and nurturing. The facility is beautiful, well-maintained, and we have a great principal and vice principal. I am extremely proud to work at this school.

This is our 3rd gradeschool experience (4 kids) and I love Glenshire the best! I have only experienced K and now 1st grade here, but thus far our teachers have been awesome and it has been a great experience. We need more extracurricular programs to be on par with some of the best schools in the Bay and I would love to see more Science, Arts, Theatre and Chess classes/clubs formed.

Both of my daughters have attended this school since they were kindergarteners (4 years total) and we are very impressed. The teaching staff is dedicated and of very high quality. There is a great deal of parental help in the classroom and lots of extra-curricular programs partially funded by parcel tax $$ (like music, chorus, band, violin lessons, french, spanish, after school math help etc).
