Waukena School is a great school for many reasons! The superintendant and the staff are commited to helping the students in their education! The school motto is 'Building ,Mind, Body and Spirit! My children attend the School and I work part time as an 'Aide' at the school, therefore I see both side of the School! Is the Staff Perfect? No! but they absolutely care about each and every child and there future!

I think waukena is a great school there is a lot of school pride in the staff and the principale is awesome! I have children that attend waukena and i am employed there also. No school is perfect, but waukena has a bunch of great staff & the kids are awesome!!

Being in the actual trenches tends to give one a more realistic view of how the battle is going, so as the 5th grade teacher of this tiny rural institution -- which, by the way, I graduated from many years ago -- I can say with great confidence that it is accomplishing its academic mission with steady success. Building character has always been the focal point of our school, and I am quite proud of the many students -- both current and former -- who carry this trait around with them as a result of being part of our community family. Children, teachers, school employees, mothers, fathers, extended family, neighbors -- all these people contribute to the sum of a wonderful whole. And as a 23-year veteran of the classroom, I could not envision myself being anywhere else, nor accomplishing less than I already have....

All of my siblings have attended & graduated from this wonderful school. All the teachers at Waukena are highly skilled and work so hard for there students. I want to take this time to thank everyone at Waukena for bringing out the best of all my siblings and giving us the encouragement and confidence we needed to go out into the world. Carrillo Family

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
