Fairmont Edgwood is a great school. I have had my children in both private and public schools and this is by far the best. The state budget cuts do not affect this school and you will find Art, Music, Science, Drama, Computer, foreign language, instrumental and PE have not been cut. Class sizes are small, with dedicated teachers. If I could do it all over again, I would put start both of my daughters here in preschool.

As a parent who had my child here for several years, I had to add my opinion to this board. I was very disappointed with the philosophy of this school which is "academics at any cost". While the curriculum is challenging and above grade level, it is my opinion that the students are not treated with respect or in a caring manner. Feedback from the parents is not accepted and the administration will consistently side with faculty and not advocate for the child. This school does not develop the "whole child". If you are interested in pure academic excellence you may like the school, but for me personally, my child is much happier elsewhere.

Fairmont Edgewood is a wonderful school. The students go on to excel in their high school classes with nearly all being accepted into AP classes as well as skipping the beginning year(s) of Spanish. The students are always ahead of their new classmates in high school in their core subjects. All students have the opportunity to join a sports team, perform in drama productions, enter art contests, compete in Academic Pentathlon and Debate. There is a Character Counts program, which helps students understand the importance of being a person of integrity. The small campus allows for emphasis on the individual learner. The teachers are caring and work together to ensure the success of each student.

This school excels in academic performance but is low on outdoor activities mainly beacuse of lack of initiative of parents. Need to develop the kids in their all around their personality not just be sunk in their books.

It was the best choice I have done to my kids. This school really invest in their teachers. My daughter in kindergarten now and she is able to read chapter books. My other in higher grades and he improved dramatically in his personality since he joined this school.

In the short time my daughter has been at this school, she has become so confident in her reading skills. When she started in September she hated to read. The teachers are excellent and this campus offers so many opportunities for advanced education that the public school system does not offer.

Fairmont's elementary schools are the only good non-sectarian private schools in Orange County. I know from research, tours and experience. Gifted children will flourish here. Campus is very small, but they make the most of it. Classroom technology is cutting-edge (thanks to a new, very active parents association), but every teacher and staffer does the job of 2 or 3 people (unfortunately, this is typical at private schools). My child is treated with respect by staff and fellow students. Very safe environment; 2-3 field trips a year. Every student, starting in kindergarten, studies 'special subjects': art, music/performing arts, computers, Spanish [Catalan version], Science lab, PE, and library skills (Renaissance Learning's Accelerated Reader program). A good investment in our child's future.

This is good school with good system and curriculum. It is worthy the $ we pay. Teachers are nice, but dedication vary. School seems do not have rules for gifts which the teachers can accept from parents. It is hard for for teacher to be unbias to child from whom they received big gift.

We have been very satisfied with the curricilum and extras at Fairmont for our now 7th grade daughter. She has been there since kindergarten. The atmosphere of the school is welcoming and the teachers serious about the students' progress but very close. The small school really encourages students to excel to their potential. Also, for a school so focused on academics, the arts are very important/ The kids have the opportunity every year to participate in some sort of theater or performance. They also have instrumental and fine arts as requirements. Sports are also important with an excellent volleyball team.

Excellent school. They have great teachers. The school is older so it doesn't have the facilities of a newer school, but that is made up a million times over on the academic side.

This school is one of the best schools in Southern California. The staff and administration are friendly, intelligent, and create a wonderful community. Many of the students that go here have gone on to presitgious high schools as well as universities. I would recommend this school to anyone!!!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
