My school is the best school in preparing the children intellectually, physically and spiritually in a safe and nurturing atmosphere. Saint Mark's prepares solid citizens. The parents are very supportive and there is definitely a positive school/home partnership. Administration is available and understands 21st century learning. Students can bring their own device in middle school. Parents know that their children are loved cared for.

If you want your kids to have both and education AND and experience above and beyond, strongly consider St. Marks. Many of the parents are business owners and professionals who clearly care how their kids behave toward one another and strongly value education. It pays off in how well they work together and how strongly my two daughters love going to school. Their PE program is top notch as are their enrichment programs in spanish, music, art, technology and their library seems always to be filled with kids reading and doing projects. The Head of School (principal) really cares about the kids, the teachers and above all, with providing a safe, supportive community for learning. The religion part is neither underdone nor overdone. All faiths are welcome and supported. I haven't quite figured out why they have parent organization meetings at 8 i in the morning when I can't go, but the communication on the website and through e-mails keeps me well informed. Finally, to make this a balanced review, I must point out that although there are after school enrichement activities, there is no organized band or orchestra. With small class sizes you can't have it all. No regrets.

Our family has been at St. Mark's for 3 years and we are extremely happy. The school is very strong in academically (every student who has applied to The Webb School in the last 2 years has been accepted), but more importantly the children are emotionally balanced, kind, well-rounded and HAPPY. Every class has a teacher's assistant and the class size averages 18 per grade. We have it all - Spanish & Latin, music, art, sports, computers, opportunities for the kids to contribute to charities and they are taught to care for the environment. The religious component builds character and teaches the kids to make good choices but is not shoved down your throat. The Head of School is attentive and dedicated. My son loves going to school and we trust and value the faculty and staff. It is an EXCELLENT environment for learning and growth.

We had a child go through this school from pre-school through 8th grade. We loved the K-5 program, but were very unhappy with the 6-8 program. The Spanish and Math programs were horrendous, but these areas have been dealt with. Most of the staff was amazing, but there were some mean staff members who treated the older children like they were toddlers. My son can write well and knows his grammar, but was not exposed to many literary classics while at the school. The technology program needs improvement. The parents are a great group, very down to earth. The new Head is making some long needed changes in the staffing and currciulum. The school does not foster an alumni relationship with grads, it seems as if they are not interested in that connection. Good school for the tuition charged.

Saint Mark's is an excellent school that produces naturally inquisitive and well-behaved kids. The kids are good test-takers, but they're so much more. The teachers are caring, experienced, and smart. The Head of School has the place pointed in the right direction. We're 100% happy with this little school.

My husband and I adore this school. The academics are solid and forward moving, the teachers are held accountable and strive to reach every student, and the parents are involved on campus and at events. Walking on campus is like being in a movie. All of the children & teachers are well-mannered and kind. It is a bit pricey, but worth the money!

Our child attends the Pre-K class and absolutely loves the teachers and other kids. I was a little nervous sending my first child off to school but St. Mark's made me feel really comfortable and confident that she will be getting the best possible care and attention she needs to succeed in order to be ready for kindergarten. I think you should definitely check out this school if you are considering a private school.

Saint Mark's has proven to be the best of all things possible in a school. Our child is challenged academically in every subject but also nurtured in the discovery and appreciation of the fine arts. The spiritual aspect also enriches the overall educational atmosphere by challenging a responsibility to the greater community. Parental involvement is encouraged but nothing beyond the norm.

St. Mark's is an academically oriented school that strives to attend to the entire child. Our child has gotten individualized attention and loving care there. She seems to be quite well prepared compared to her public school peers. This is a school to check out if you are considering an independent school in the area.

St. Mark's is a wonderful small private school located in Upland, CA. The small class sizes and intimacy of the campus fosters a close-knit group. Heavy parent involvement is encouraged, but this is not unusual for a private school. We would highly recommend this charming school.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
