Van Nuys Elementary School

I can't say that all the teachers are highly qualified because some do not give enough interest to their students and will have too bad of an attitude towards their students which is never acceptable. There are some who have been there for over 8 years and are wonderful instructors. The only one who seems to have any interest in the children's education other than the teacher is the principal, a large majority of the parents don't give as much importance to their child's education. I have been to the every meeting possible and only perhaps 20 parents will show up out of the hundreds of parents who have children at this school. The staff in the main office is not friendly enough, some staff chooses who they want to be nice to which is unprofessional in my eyes. There needs to be a major restructuring of management to bring about more parent involvement. But the community doesn't seem capable to change which greatly affects the school.

Excellent school. The teachers are highly qualified and dedicated to the instruction of the students. The campus is always clean and safe, and the curriculum is very academically rigorous and challenging. Only downfall is lack of parental support and volunteers. Teachers need to have support from the parents.
