I think that this school is great as far as test scores but that seems like that is their only focus, If you have a child with PDD, ADD or ADHD I strongly suggest that you go to another school they did not accomaodate my son and his needs and are quick to blame parents.
My children attended Crestview for 3 years, I had a child in every grade except 1st and I have very high expectations. I was never once disappointed! Crestview is a fantastic school and my children received a super education. The principal and staff are intelligent, caring and hard-working. Everyone is fully engaged and keeps in mind the special needs of the military family. School spirit is top-notch. Best of all, children learn, learn, learn. The focus on reading is very impressive. After leaving the district and moving to a new state, i am once again impressed with the education my children received. They are doing well in a new military school and Crestview prepared them and delivered. They are right on target with their peers from other locations. Thanks Cougars!
Crestview Elementary was a fantastic school for both of our children during our three years on Vandenberg AFB. The school has very limited resources, as do all California schools, but it makes up for it with the great teachers and staff and their willingness to provide for the kids. The PTA is top notch and works very hard to raise funds which provide programs such as art, music, assemblies, and other types of programs that our children deserve to experience as a part of their education. The PTA does everything they can to make up for the lack of funds that California can't seem to afford thier schools. The principal is very kind and cares for every child. He's a great role model and the kids adore him. Crestview consistently scores high on State Testing and has the best attendance in the District. Go Cougars!
Every teacher has my child's best interst at heart. They work as a team to enrich the lives of each child.
Crestview is a fantastic school! The entire school is so positive. The principal, Dr. Falke, is tuned in and concerned about the kids, and they feel it, I have never seen more smiling kids. The teachers are amazing (we love to Mrs. Mitchell). They accomplish so much with the limited resources CA allows their students. The PTA and parents are highly involved and raise tons of money to help fill CAs gaps in funding. If you want your child to get great education AND enjoy it, Crestview is for you!
Crestview is an exceptional school. I have my daughter at crestview as her 'school of choice'. She is happy, excelling, and loves school. It's true that some of the extra curricular activities that you may find in other states is lacking, however that has nothing to do with the choices that this school has made. They are at the mercy of the state and its finanial nightmare. The teachers go above and beyond to provide a well rounded experience for students. The PTA is astounding! So much money is raised to afford programs that the state is no longer providing. Music, dance, art and the school has a great PE program-I am thrilled that my daughter will start off her academic career on such a positive track! Great job Crestview teachers, staff and principal.
The teacher's have been wonderful. The school district in general has not been good. Poor planning has caused the school to shift kids and teachers around pretty consistantly. I've had great teacher experiences there.
Crestview's new principal, Dr Faulk is exceptional. The PTA is fabulous. Parent involvement seems to be high at Crestview. I am not aware of any music or art classes which is disappointing. The Lompoc Unified School District lunch program is very disappointing if you are at all concerned with nutrition. Some variation would be nice. Overall, I think Crestview rates as superior to the surrounding schools, adequate when compared nationally. In other words, stay on base unless you plan to go to private school and pack a lunch.
My daughter did so well at Crestview in 3rd grade she was tested for the GATE program, she was one of the top readers all year and walked away from 3rd grade with all As and Bs. I attribute alot to her teacher as she worked the children hard, she expected alot from them, and for my daughter that was just what she needed, she delivered well! I like Crestivew very much and will miss it when we go!
Crestview Elementary has wonderful teachers and excellent parental involvement. The PTA is very active and offers a lot of programs for the kids and their families and really supports the teachers. What Crestview lacks is a phys ed program, art and music. We've had two great years at Crestview (kg and 1st grade)
