Venice Lutheran is a gift to any child that attends. Small classroom size, and teachers who genuinely care about their students. Both of my children are doing really well here, and I wouldn't have them at any other place!
We had been to 3 different schools before we found Venice Lutheran. This is the perfect school for our kids. Its small classroom size allows for the attention our kids need to learn. The teachers are willing to help do what it takes to make our kids successful. And the school's emphasis on integrity and character building are not found in public schools. This has been a blessing and the foundation we want our children being taught.
My eldest child has been at Venice Lutheran for six years and I have a second child there as well. My children are thriving academically in the small, intimate classroom environment. The music program is nothing short of stellar. And the school delivers tight community in a wonderful area right near the beach with fresh air and the Venice library within walking distance. We go to outside leagues to supplement the sports in middle school. We consider the entire staff of the school our partners in raising respectful, confident kids with great study habits.
As parents, we love this school for our two kids. We transferred here a few years ago. It is a great community of families who really care for and watch out for one another's kids. At first we weren't sure about the small size and multi-grade classes, but now we think these are some of the best parts of the school. The principal, teachers, parents and kids all know each others names and care about each other, and unlike in larger schools, the older kids mentor the younger kids and share friendships. For middle school, it is a safe environment for your child to grow into adolescence. The academics are really challenging and the students are taught strong time management skills. The school's national test scores are very high, most grades score in the top 3%-10% nationally. While people come from diverse backgrounds, we really like the Christian values and morals and care for social causes that are incorporated in the school as well. The music program is very strong, and it is nice that the kids can play volleyball and basketball or take theatre, dance, art or gymnastics classes after school. It's a good choice for your child's education, so check out the website!
I can't say enough positive things about Venice Lutheran School. In a huge, chaotic and emotionally disconnected city rests this gem of a community. The faculty, staff and fellow parents love the students like their own. The students there are incredibly bright and respectful and well-suited to take on the challenges of any high school. Any parent looking for academic as well as character-building excellence for their child should consider becoming part of the Venice Lutheran community.
I too am a parent at this wonderful school. I am not affiliated with any religion, however I am not opposed to the structure and guidance a parochial school offers. The principal is hands on and walks children to their parents vehicles everyday after school and after teaching classes all day. The classes are small enough that the teachers can cater to each students abilities and needs. I've been at this school long enough to see students go on to prestigious universities with honors. The music department alone is amazing and worth the tuition. As far as private schools go, this is truly a gem.
My son has been at the school for a few years and is very happy there, I can see from homework and schoolwork that he is learning at a high level and his growing knowledge is impressive I have to give full credit to his teachers and how seriously the school takes the student's education as I work full time. The tuition is affordable. The children are polite and well mannered, I would highly recommend the school.
Last night Venice Lutheran had a screening of the documentary RACE TO NOWHERE. After seeing this film I am even more convinced that our children are attending a school that fits our priorities. The school places an emphasis on instilling the love to learn instead of pressuring the teachers and students to make the test scores because no child is exactly the same. Now more than ever I believe that this school is a great place to grow. The fact that this school is even willing to have this dialogue with parents and the community at large says a lot about the principal and teachers openness to new ideas.
As a parent of First Lutheran School for many years now, we feel the school speaks for itself. It has been there for over 60 years & the principal for over 25 years, how many schools can match that? Our Alumni students who have graduated have gone on to superior Hi Schools & Colleges. The school is SAFE, free from drugs & violence. It teaches a strong moral value. It is a small town feel in a big city. We wouldn't be any where else!
Very religious. School lacks leadership. Poor middle school. One teacher has been known to ridicule and shame students in front of class. Accreditation allowed expire. Too late to renew and Principal is advocating against reapplying. Combined classes. Excellent third and fourth grade teacher.
