This a a great small school where the care my 7th grade son receives is way above what he would receive at the local middle public school here in town. Teh teachers are truly invested in the kids and care about thier learning and foster a Spirit filled environment. It's a place where a kid can be a Christian, not feel the enormous peer pressures placed on kids in public schools. the environment at the school doesn't tolerate exclusion but inclusion of everyone, even new comers are welcomed by the kids here. The parent involvement could be better, it's slack at best from what I've seen. The principal is amazing, truly involved, addresses issues as they arise promptly and provides feedback. It's worth the investment to have your child here if you can afford it.
My son is almost through his second year at VCCS, and I have no regrets about my decision to send him here. He had a mild learning issue that we discovered in pre-school, so he was a little behind when he started kindergarten. The small class size has been perfect for him, as I feared he would get lost in the shuffle in a bigger school. He was reading by Christmas of his kindergarten year, and I definitely no longer consider him behind. He loves this school, and I feel safe having him there. The staff is very friendly and accessible. My son loves his teachers and he is still excited to go every day. The older students look out for the younger ones and consider them friends. The senior class buddy program with the elementary students is a real benefit as well. 2 years=2 great kids have been my sons buddy. Please come give the school a look. Don't let the size fool you, it really is a place you can feel good about trusting with your child and his/her future.
The Transformational Learning approach is what sets this school far above the rest. We switched from another private Christian school and could not be happier with our decision. Teachers are credentialed & degreed. Small class sizes. A Beka curriculum. Spanish. BIBLE! I have 2 elementary students attending and feel like they are each given an individual education. If they excel in something, they are given more and higher levels of that subject to keep them motivated. If a subject needs extra attention in an area, they receive it! I also cannot say enough about their positive environment. Encouragement is huge there and I see the students thriving from simple words of encouragement building their confidence. I m so glad we found VCCS.
I have 2 children enrolled at Ventura County Christian school for the past 3 years and this was the best decision our family ever made. We have a great Principle/Administrator, and great teachers who really care about the student success academically. My son will be a senior this year and has thrived at this school. My daughter will be a sophmore, and due to having smaller class size my child was able to take an AP class and get individual help. As far as individuality each student is able to be who God intended them to be and as long as they follow what is in the student handbook they will not have any problems!
my daughter loves going to school here she has made so many good friends and she has grown so much closer to god. the best part about the school is that the teachers are so nice and understanding, the principal is so funny and exciting, the school is so small that you make so many friends this is my daughters third year here and she loves it
This is my daughters third year and she loves it there. I will never put her back in the public school system. Praise God that we have schools that teach the Love of God, plus the best education ever.
This is a great school. Both of my children went to this school throughout high school. It was a wonderful experience for them. They were both on the CIF Football, Baseball, Basketball and Golf Varsity teams. Not only was their athletic life fun and demanding, so were their academic and spiritual lives. Both sons received substantial college scholarships for their academic preparedness. Therefore, both went directly into 4 year universities. Their knowledge of the Bible and of God's richest gift of salvation were of the main focus in all of their classes. The student body participated in community service program such as beach clean-up, serving the poor, helping the elderly and leading worship at different churches and Christian schools. They were also active in the performing arts. They sang in the choir and played guitar as well as acted in the plays. This is a great school.
This is not a good school if you would like your child to grow up being an individual. There are little to no academic programs for the kids. Yes, the parents are involved, so much that they try to parent children that aren't theres. I highly disapprove and do not recommend this school to any parent
