The principal pushes her own political and lifestyle agendas in our school, where our kids just need to be learning common core.....not getting in the middle of her own personal crusades. Leave our kids out of your home drama.

Disgusted with the principal of this school. Regardless of her beliefs religious, political, etc, she should leave those at the door. She has hurt our school by picking who can give to our school based on their political and or religious beliefs, actually their personal beliefs, not them being discrimitory in any way. She allows coming out day at school which includes ribbons based on what sexuality a student is, including homosexual, lesbian, bi, trisexual (which means you'll try anything), pan sexual (still don't honestly know what that one means), asexual (really!!!), transgender, and Ally (you support all or some part of LGBT community even if you are not any or all of those preferences.... How is that a sexual orientation??). Did not have abstinent, or celibate (shouldn't those be in there if asexual and Alley are in there). This should not be done during school time..... Our kids are not there to declare the sexuality. This might be acceptable at a college, but not on a high school campus. Disgusted with this principal, you don't want to go here, she's bringing our school down with her personal agendas.

My oldest daughter graduated from VHS several years ago and I have another child in VHS now. I have been happy with the teaching, classes offered including Honors and AP classes as well as music, drama and art programs. I have always found that the Principal was always very supportive and always acted in best interest of the students and the entire student body. Regarding the incident mentioned in previous reviews, I asked my daughter what she thought and also what her friends felt regarding this matter. They felt that the Principal acted appropriately. This ridiculous bashing by parents is very childish.

Okay school, but the administration is overrun by people pushing controversial views. The principle, Val, bans things that are Christian and is a vocal proponent of gay marriage. If family values and the Bible are important to you, I recommend looking elsewhere.

The principal of this school Val Wyatt, should be banned from ever setting foot in the school again. Banning a donation from a restaurant because they don't share the same beliefs is irresponsible, intolerent, offensive to Christians and discriminatory and I believe possibly illegal. With only a 7 star rating in general, with this principal in the helm the school will no doubt decline and send a generation of kids out in to the world who are so biased they'll never be able to function in society without great difficulty. Get Val Wyatt out of there if you want to improve the lessons in tolerence and love to your children.

Ashamed that the administration has turned it's back on Christian corporations, do you not feel you are offending the Christian children also? Political correctness is out of control.

I find the principal puts politics above the needs of students based on her ridiculous actions. Banning Chick-Fil-A even though they are quite generous to those in need, do not discriminate in hiring or serving others. I think she's a bad example for children.

Our school is horrible because our Principal, Val Wyatt does not have a functioning brain.

They've decided to ban Chic-Fil-A because they don't like the fact that they are religious. Given all the drugs and gangs, does this really need to be done? I don't want my child disciplined for eating Chic-Fil-A.

If your religion is that important to your child's education, then enroll him in a religious school. Bravo to Ventura High!

Ventura High School is a fantastic school. There is something for everyone at this school including sports programs, science programs, culinary arts programs, etc...My daughter has the ability to take drama, choir, band, and a foreign language and she is excelling academically and socially. The staff really cares about the students and the administration is open to new ideas and very supportive.

This school was my all-time favorite school I've ever gone to. It has a great learning environment, the students are easy to get along with, and the staff is there to help whenever needed. I miss this school immensely, and wish I could go back.

I have two boys who are juniors this year at VHS. Both have been in honors courses since frosh year and are now in AP courses with more to come senior year. I believe any school is only worth what the students are willing to put into it, but VHS offers a well rounded program for those who seek to take advantage. Could use much more parental support, Val Wyatt is doing an outstanding job as and administrator, how many hs priciples know so many students by name, just watch her work the quad! My next VHS student will be in special ed and my impression is that she will also have many resources at her disposal. My family is very happy at VHS.

The teachers & counselors at VHS are actively involved in the children's education. Since my son's Freshman year, the counselor has frequently provided me with College information, requirements, books to read, etc. to make sure that we are both on track to get into a 4 year college straight from high school. The coaches, art teachers, music teacher, drama teacher are all phenomenal. The general education teachers are also invested in the children, emailing parents when a child is absent, staying in regular contact. I would highly recommend VHS!

Two kids through VHS. We are happy. VHS provides the opportunity for kids to excel. Kids have to choose to take up the opportunity. Some great teachers, but you have to watch out for a few real losers even in the honors program. Principal Wyatt has been a major cause of cleaning up student appearance and attitude. Still some security issues with very diverse student body. Not just racial diversity, but religion, economic, and life-style diversity. Some athletic programs are over-competitive, losing sight of true value of high school sports. Weak ASB program. Yearbook needs work. Music, art, and drama do not receive much publicity. In fact, VHS as a whole needs a better PR person. Parent support is not wide-spread and I think there is not enough extra money to go around. Great campus, outstanding facilities. The only Ventura school with 2 gyms. Decent school spirit. A good school.

We are on our 3rd child thru VHS with one more to go. We love many things about VHS, especially the diversity. It is real! It is a place for those who want to develop to do so. Teachers care, administration is working hard to push all kinds of kids. We are very happy to send our kids to a school that will lead to them being well rounded, aware-of-the-REAL-world people. Go Cougars!

My daughter just graduated from Ventura High. She had a very positive schooling experience there. 90% of the graduating class is going on to college. I believe this says a lot about a schools reputation.

Ventura High merits a mediocre rating at best. It has consistantly rated the lowest performing of the three main high schools in this district. The music program which had formerly been a nationally recognized program is now in the 2003-2004 school year below average under the direction of the new music teacher. For students interested in music, VUSD no longer offers an award winning music program.
