Wow, I really thought I was the only one that felt the same way. I agree to the negative ratings below. The only good thing I can say about the leadership is safety rules are greatly stressed especially where the school is located. The teachers really are great. As long as you do not have any communication with the principal and just the teacher, then you should be ok, well hopefully, and from what I have seen, do not get your self involved in anything but your childs class. Obviously there is something wrong with leadership from what I hear fr parents at school and now on here, just confirms to me that I am not hearing gossip and allot is true. I am currently considering changing schools, that's why I am on this site.

Sixth st Prep is small school with a good API. Since the school is so small changes are very noticeable, including the lower API scores obtained since the current principal came on board. The new principal, NOT SO NEW. THE LEARNING CURVE ENDED, This is her third year on the job(equal to three years with declining scores), and is time that she is held accountable for her mishaps. As a parent I know that I cannot talk to her about my student, concerns, or questions. There is no minimum wait time for calls or appointments because she will not return calls or reply to emails unless you are complementing her or threat to go to the school district. The office staff is cold and don't make you feel welcome. I would recommend this school to any parent who is seeking excellent teachers. I would NOT recommend Sixth St. Prep for its CURRENT UNSATISFACTORY LEADERSHIP.

Sixth Street Prep is one of the best schools in the district. The new principal is awesome! She is very approachable and has an open door policy. As a parent, I know that I can talk to her about my student and any concerns or questions that I may have, she is happy to address. I have had experiences with other schools, where the principal is not available and have to wait a minimum of 24 hours before I get a call back. That is not the case here. The teachers are excellent and the new leadership is top notch. It is truly a pleasure to have my children attend this school. The office staff is warm and friendly and make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend Sixth Street Prep to any parent who is seeking an excellent all around school . Great principal, great teachers, great staff.

Since the new principal has come on board things have change for the worse. Parents do nothing but complain in how the principal instigates confrontations with them. The students constantly say they are unhappy and cannot wait to leave the school. School morale is at it's worst ever. As a parent I don't feel that welcome door she always mentions to the parents. The office staff is not friendly at all the warmth that was once felt with the previous office staff is ice cold now. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

Since the current principal came onboard the API's have come down along with the parent morale. There is no open door policy with the principal; she does not welcome parents. The teachers are great; my rating is for the current principal.

Much has changed to this school in the past 2 years, unfortunately not for the better. The teachers hold this school up and the only reason why my child is still here. I thank you for the teachers just unfortunate I can't say the same about the principal of this school. Keeping my hopes up for the better

Strategies that are practiced in the classrooms are excellent. There have been many staff districts visiting the school from all of the state observing the classrooms. This school has excellent leadership and parents that are involved in their child's education.

Absolutely love this school. The staff encourages parents to be involved in their child's education, this is a huge plus. The reading abilities from the Kinder class is amazing.

In only 5 months attending K at sixth street prep school my son is Reading, Writing, counting, adding and substracting. This is an awesome school. The teachers really take their time and care for each student.

My daughter is in 1st grade at Sixth Street Prep. She is doing great. The teachers and staff are awesome. I like it because it is very well structured and the class sizes are smaller so she gets more individual attention. She loves it and I am very happy my child has the great experience of attending this school!

The staff at sixth st. Are just the best.They make you feel like your a part of the school not just a parent dropping off and picking up your kids. They encourage parents to help out. They show that their #1 goal are the kids.

My daughter is a Kindergartener at SSPS. The teachers as well as the principal embrace the district's motto 'Learning for All, Whatever it Takes.' They emphasize teaching the standards to mastery. They also involve parents in their children's education. At Sixth Street Prep, technology is a strong vehicle in teaching the standards. The principal is a strong leader and is respected by parents, teachers and students.
