Silverado High School is home to some of the worst teachers in California. I wouldn't reccomend the school to anyone. They don't know how to teach their subjects and just waste the students time with busy work. In general the teaching styles are counterproductive to actually learning and just make every student do work without a point. If your students want help, don't go to the teachers, they'll just say "You should have paid attention", "It's not my problem" or "Just drop the class if you're having so much trouble." You're learning everything on your own here and only go to school to pick up work. The Ap curriculum is dreadful. Teacher's constantly assign work they haven't even looked at, and grade every assignmment in the worst way possible. It's quantity of quality of work at Silverado. The test scores at this school aren't because of the students, it's because of teachers that just don't care. Before you write this off as an angry, misguided students, I'm one of the top 20 in my senior class with no help from the teachers. Honestly, It's only when I realized I couldn't count on help from any teacher(with the exception of about 2) that I started actually learning.
silverado high school is one of the best schools in southern california the teachers really help you when needed and support you as well.
This is the best school in the high desert my son has really succeded in everything at this school and never got straight as before but has them for two years there football team is the best n the high desert and goes to cif every year. has a lot of nice kids and nobody ever fights.
My son started this school in 9th grade and he has been struggling since. I think that the communication between school staff and parents is not there. The counselor always send me elsewhere to deal with issues and has NEVER approached me about my son's academic standing. I thought that their job was to ensure the studen'ts success every step of the way? The ParentWeb is no use to me regarding grades because it is never correct, but I always get directed there. Teachers/counselors need to communicate more with parents face-to-face.
Silverado has okay teachers and if you are a determined student then they are willing to help. the front office people are pretty nice. but when it comes to the students its just too many and not enough security to watch over the students and there are varies fights at the school so the school can always use some improvement.
in my opinion Silverado is a really good school. sure it has its problems like drugs, fights, and inappropriate behavior but name one public school that doesnt. all the teachers are great, they care about your education and try to help you as much as they can. there are some students that dont care about their grades and they like to cause problems but not everyone is like that. dont blame the school for some bad students behavior. if you go to silverado and you really care about your education you can talk to your teachers and counselors and they will be willing to help you and you will do great! there are also many after school activities that can help you graduate and help you and the community
I have one child that started at Silverado this year and one that is starting a 3rd year at Victor. from what I have seen so far , hands down Silverado is a much better ran and informed school. Everything from book disbursment to counselor, to AC Activities. Both schools have there violence issues and a very large Drug problem, but i dont know of a high school that doesnt. You need to get invovled in elementary school to keep your kids going in the right direction - middle school is the worst. if you believe that there is a high school without a drug problem, then you need to open your eyes a little more. i am happy to hear they are adding college classes and FINALLY getting a stadium!!!
I have witnessed student/teacher interaction at Silverado for three years now. I feel that this is one of the finest schools I have ever experienced.
I think this is a pretty good school . Even thow we have fights and things that has nothing to do with the school , that is just people being human so don't say that we r not good students because i can say that most of the students are really smart they just need to be willing to sit down and actually try there best which is hard to do when your not in the mood so don't judge a school about what u see in the papper or here
I came to this school from a really good school and I am very dissapointed by what I see every day. From going to such a great school, to a not so great school has been hard. Every day I see atleast one fight. There are even riots at this school. It;s so sad to see how many teens are pregnant and so many are selling drugs, even in class!! I don't feel safe at this school at all. The idea of them making the campus bigger with college parts is great though.
