My son has been going to this school since Grade K and is now in 3rd grade. I love this school, teachers, staff, and it's small and comfortable feeling. The teachers really get to know your child (even if they aren't even in their class) and it's wonderful to walk on campus and hear various children yelling out to my son that his mom is coming! As far as the academics go, I feel the small classroom sizes and the intelligent and creative teaching staff they have really challenges a child. He takes math homework home that I remember doing in 6th grade, not 3rd! The new principal Mrs. Robb is very aware, approachable & on point . Only one thing I would have to say negative about associated with Liberty (and I am speaking on behalf of MANY parents) is the LCC(PTA). Adults with high school cliquish snob mentality!
The teachers are great. Very small yet very wonderful school.
My son attends this school and i have to say that he is happy here. I think they have great parent involvement, and do need to step it up in the area of learning more
The changes in Liberty staff is excellent and my son is a full grade level ahead of where he needs to be.
I have two daughters who attend Liberty would like to see them challenge my girls more. Liberty does not seem to be getting them ready for High School. Liberty seems to have some discipline problems which make it hard for the kids who want to learn. Classes need to be harder and less about the teacher more about the kids.
Many of the issues raised by other reviewers are and have been addressed. Leadership changes have certainly affected the school environment, but the current principal has Liberty headed in the right direction. Despite the negativity about Liberty's academics, this school ranks among the counties best and have met state and national requirements in academic improvement. Things are certainly on the rise for Liberty Elementary School!
Lack of discipline and virtually no extracurricular activities make this school a poor choice. The class sizes are nice, but the classes are dumbed down to the slowest child. I'd like to see more challeging activities for the brighter children in classes. Poor leadership. The board doesn't seem to make good choices. Sorry, but this school falls short.
Unfortunately, I have had to transfer my children to another school district. I loved Liberty for the 4 years my oldest went there, but they just weren't able to pull it together and I saw how far behind my child was entering high school. I now send my younger children to a different rural school. I hope that Liberty's new principal can help the school pull it together with academics as well as extra cirruclar activities. Good Luck!
My 12 Year old Daughter attends Liberty Elementary I am very disappointed in the extra curricular activities Their lack of concern and lack of interest when sponsers come forward frustrates me. The leadership seems to be disinterested. The one cliquish one sided dicipline also concerns me. The teachers tend to wonder from acedemics to their personal lives while teaching classes. I am worried about my child being prepared for high school.
This school has been going through some very difficult times and many changes in the past and still is. Quality of academic programs could be much better, especially in the higher grades. Extracurricular activities are very limited or = 0. There is no music, art, clubs...etc. The school is lacking good leadership and strict discipline policy. I am not saying that this is not a good school, but that it has a potential of being much better one. As for the parent involvment I would rate it as good.
