Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Our family has been at Faith Lutheran for 4 years and have seen some changes over the years. This year we have welcomed the change of a new Principal who is visible, involved and motivated to see the school succeed. Our children's teachers are great. They have provided extra help when needed and keep us informed as to what's going on in the classroom. The school is offering a Homework Club after school free of charge. This is so helpful in that our children's homework is done before they get home. The teachers provide extra help if necessary. I would highly recommend anyone to come visit and the campus and speak with them about their programs. A great place to be!

We have been sending our children to Faith since preschool and could not be happier with the school. The loving environment and fantastic teachers and staff make the school feel like extended family. The school has experienced some turnover as all schools do I am sure, but the great learning environment and dedicated and caring staff are a staple at faith. Our family has great memories at Faith and looks forward to many more.

Faith Lutheran provides superior academics, spiritual growth, and works with families to build strong character in its students. Our children have all attended Faith since preschool and we continue to be impressed with their development when compared with their peers; both those in public and other private schools. The teachers and staff make an effort to address our children's specific needs while still supporting the entire student body toward a common, success oriented, academic goal. I would not hesitate to recommend this school and our kids couldn t imagine attending anywhere else!

Faith Lutheran School has been fantastic to us! The experience has been outstanding! We came from a public school and was told about Faith Lutheran from a fellow friend. What a blessing! My kids enjoy the school and got a great education this year. They received a much better education than where they were previously. My kids' teachers both were caring, loving, and very helpful; same with the staff. They enjoy the school and look forward to going back this year. I couldn't ask for more! Check this school out for yourself. You will be happy!

One of the greatest decisions I have made, was sending my son to this school. The knowledge he has gained is remarkable. His social/emotional growth is astounding as well. I'm pleased with the faculty and facility and am looking forward to several more years at faith Lutheran.

This has been a great preschool and kindergarten for our family. The teachers are very caring and the small classroom sizes have been greatly beneficial. We are excited for another great year.

I love Faith Lutheran School & Lambs of Faith Preschool!! We have a three year old child in preschool and a soon to be 3th grader in the school. We have had a great experience with both. The preschool teachers are so warm and loving with the children while teaching them the love of Jesus and preparing them for kindergarten. The director is wonderful and very positive. Love the school staff. There have been many changes over the last few years, but our family feels they are positive changes for our children. We feel the children have a strong academic foundation. I highly recommend both!

Hello, We did not favor Faith Lutheran. The tuition was very high, and we didn't get much in return. We will not be coming back next year. I was one of the students here, and I have felt somehow misunderstood from both the teachers and principle. The middle school numbers are very low and some of the teachers just rush the kid through the school year. They don't review, go over, or classify the main detail to make sure the kid's understand it. Truthfully, I have learned more in a public school than in this institute. The school is a waste of time and is like putting your child on a boat without a captain. No leadership, lack of dignity, and no trust what-so-ever. I hope this message can help the next few kids who come here. They have no understanding for the kids. It seems they are just looking for that $625.00 every month. To add to this, they looked at the things the kids don't do and don't look at the things they do do.

We have been a member of this school since preK. We are leaving!!!!!!! We pay a great deal of money for our child to attend school here and it took us a long time, too long to realize for what??!! Nothing!!!! Academics are low. Technology is non existent. No foreign language. Poor leadership. And the worst customer service and communication! We registered in the spring for this fall. And since then my sons teacher has quit. And the principal has changed for the 3rd time in 3 years. When we asked for our registration fee back the new principal said unequivocally NOWAY!!!!!! just reinforcing my decision. There is in dialogue no customer satisfaction. If you're paying big bucks you want to be treated as such.

The worst !!!!!!! We attended for 4 years. The first years were amazing. However; since then it has gone increasingly downhill ever since. 3 Principal changes in three years. Teachers being fired and quitting. Since registering for the next grade for fall my childs teacher has quit and there is a new principal. There is no foreign language. Nothing exceptional. Not even any fun at this school. I would in no way shape or form recommend this school to anyone thinking about attending here.

We have had enough!! We are moving on. FLS is now on its 4th principal in 6 years. At least 4 summers in a row with teachers unexpectedly being fired/forced to resign/forced to retire, and teacher contracts not being renewed. The best thing about this school has always been the teachers. Well, if you get rid of them all, it is not going to be a very good school. What going on with the leadership?!? I wish FLS could get its act together. We have stayed longer than we should have, due to wishful thinking. It is just not worth it anymore.

I am so sad and mad. This used to be such a great school, with a wonderful sense of community and family. The teachers here are wonderful!! But they keep getting fired. It seems like the "leadership" has been systematically destroying the school over the last few years. Families are leaving in droves. The middle school only had 5-7 kids per class this past year. How small will it be next year? I can not send my child to a middle school that is so small, and with so much turmoil and turnover. Middle school is hard enough as it is, without drama coming from the administration! We will start our search for a new school, but I miss the old Faith Lutheran.

Charter schools offer a better education than this school. Music program is a joke, administration is the worst, every year this school fails to enroll. If it was a great school it would show by numbers. We pay more money for sports outside of this school because of who is running the program. So many staff changes in so few years. Don't get me started on the Pre-school! Why can the new director not keep staff? This school does not want parents to help just the money. So many great Charter schools I would run away from this school. So very glad it's our last year.

Faith Lutheran School has been a saving grace for my children. We were referred to Lambs of Faith Preschool by three of our neighbors. After much prayer, research, and touring of other schools, we were confident that Lambs of Faith was the best place for our family. My children have since gone on to Faith Lutheran Elementary where they continue to grow in their Christian faith, academics, and athletics. The administration cares and listens to the needs and wants of parents. The teachers constantly strive to challenge children to their full potential. We love the church as well and recently were baptized and became church members. If you want the very best for your children and family look no further than Faith Lutheran Church and Schools.

This school is like placing your child on a boat with out a capitan. Lacks lidership, unity, costumer service and therefore you feel like no one really cares about your parental imput. If you are not " to strict of a christian" this is good for you! They will give sugar treats often, will celebrate Halloween, have ash Wednesday like catholics and way more !! By the way if not too uncomfortable the Lutheran church will have a funeral and all related to it when your children are having lunch!

Love, love, love Faith Lutheran School and Preschool. Our family was referred to Lambs of Faith Preschool by four different families. I toured several schools in the area and not one measured up to Lambs of Faith Preschool. My children are now attending the elementary school and are excelling in all areas. If you want the very best for your children, look at Lambs of Faith and Faith Lutheran Elementary and Middle Schools. You will never go anywhere else.

Our family has been attending LOF/FLS since 2004 and then became members of the church. The environment is THERE for my children. Teachers, staff and academics. Though this school is not perfect (nor am I or the world) but it is a work in progress. It has improved the math program recently and has an in-school tutoring program for reading. Our school also offers computer, physical education and music to all students K-8 during the normal school hours at no extra costs.

Our family loves FLS. My children have attended LOF/FLS since preschool. The staff is respectful, nurturing, and above all well qualified to teach. The personal attention that each teacher brings into her classroom and the excitement for learning shows in all grades. I think the new principal has been a wonderful bonus to FLS bringing excitement, joy of learning, and love for Christ into the aspects of the job. I feel comfortable to leave my children in the care of everyone at FLS and I know the education is impeccable. The only draw back to FLS is the enrollment but the small class sizes is an awesome opportunity for the children to get one on one education. The school has so much to offer our community.

Compared to public schools and other schools in the area, Faith Lutheran is quite superior. Unfortunetely people use this site inappropriately. It is disappointing that a parent enrolled in a Christian school would not follow Christian standards when framing a complaint about the school. Check the school out. You will find that the curriculum is superior as well as the extra curricular programs. The school just completed an accreditation that proves the excellence of the school and staff. (The accreditation process is conducted by the state of California, not internally) Check the teachers/administration degrees and credentials. Don't believe a person that has an axe to grind. Come in for a tour, speak to the board of education, talk to the PTL. Check it out for yourself, you won't be sorry you did. You will find that Faith Lutheran School is an excellent choice for your child.

If you are really in the market for an excellent school you need to check out Faith Lutheran. Don't be swayed by a comment from someone that may have had some sort of bad experience. This school just completed an accreditation process by Western Association of Schools and Colleges. A school does not receive accreditation if the programs are below par and the teachers are not qualified to teach. Like one parent said below, Faith is constantly looking for ways to improve and add to their programs. Faith focuses on things that matter, academics and belief in Jesus Christ. Do your child a favor and check out this school. I know you will not regret what you find.

This is not a dedicated school Our children will not be coming back next year. I have never seen such a horrible learning environment and lazy teachers and a principal that is two faced and doesn't know what she is doing. We are better off in public school. As for programs being offered at FLS, they are not taught by by well trained individuals. Their music program compared to other schools is horrible. Their computer class is not taught by a credentialed person either. I would look hard at this school and either look at another private or public. This is a horrible school

We have never had our children at any other school so there is not a lot of comparison. However, I can tell you that this school is very dedicated to education with a balanced emphasis on Christianity. Just like with life as a whole, it is what you make it. To read the comments about the PTL and what not is disheartening. As a whole the PTL does and has always had the children on the forefront of the agenda. If there are a few catty parents on the committee that needs to be addressed specifically. I would be very curious as to how many schools these other parents with bad reviews have had their children in. Sometimes when there is a problem it is better to look in the mirror than to point fingers!

This school is not worth going to. The teachers teach the kids the standarized tests so they look like they have high test scores. The principal is a joke. The administration doesn't know what is going on. The PTL, well I have never seen anything like that before. They are all friends running the school like a joke. I put my kids in public school and the curriculum is harder. This school needs better leadership and get rid of the PTL.

I agree with the below which is why my kids didn't come back. There is so much bad stuff going on. There are not any background checks. My kids were there for 5 years and myself and no one else ever was asked to do one. I volunteered. In this state you have to have a TB test to volunteer. I never did and no one else ever did. I got tired of PTL calls late at night complaining to me. Yet if I complained the Pres. told me I was lying. I found out she said the same thing to another family and the principal did nothing. The studies are not up to date.

After much thought we will NOT be sending our child back to Faith next fall. The new administration is disappointing. The new administration is uncooperative and unfriendly. Theres lot of talk among parents about this problem. Its too bad because we used to love this school but the direction it is taking is not for us. The school office is not a pleasant place. The changes that have taken place havent been pleasing to many parents.

Great school, great teachers, awesome new facilities too! It's disappointing me to see negative comments posted, our experiences here (over 5 years) have been positive. Faith Lutheran has been the biggest blessing to our family. Our children are held to high academic standards, while being nurtured in a Christian environment. We can't speak highly enough about it. The new principal has brought the school a fresh perspective and a great cohesiveness. She has implemented a new anti-bullying program, that shows how concerned she is for the children and parents alike. I have found her to be easily accessible and very approachable, and the teachers are just the best. I read a negative post that made me feel bad because it is such a great environment. I also don't believe it is possible to delete negative comments from a site such as this one?? We love Faith Lutheran, and will continue reccommending it as always.

We pulled our daughter out because of the unprofessional leadership at this school. They are also inconsistent with their own rules and guidelines, changing them to fit their own agenda when it is convenient for them to do so. Our kids are at a public school now and it is much better. Sad. We do NOT recommend FLS.

I agree with the below post. Things are not what they used to be. The teachers are not the best. There is a new principal that really is obvious she doesn't have a clue to what's going on. The PTL, well don't get me started, they don't know how to communicate. It is family oriented because most everyone is there, but it's academia is not there. Especially in the 1st grade and 4th grade. I would seriously look elsewhere if you want quality education with quality educators.

We sent our girl here originally because of their great test scores (90th percentile and up) on standardized testing. But what's kept her here has been the great family atmosphere, small class sizes, and committed teachers. They work the kids hard compared to some schools, but it pays off.

Our daughter has been at FLS since 2nd grade. She is now in 7th, and is getting a wonderful, and well-rounded education. The math and science is exceptional, and she has never had a bad teacher. The whole staff is supportive and caring, and safety is never a question. I can't recommend this school highly enough. It is simply the best around.

We have 2 children in this school and very happy with it! The staff is very caring, parents are involved and class sizes small. They just got a new gym, music room and computer room with the new building which will be able to offer the kids more opportunities with extracurricular activities as well as a first class learning environment. They are building out a new science lab as well! Im happy that the teachers are able to work with the kids - really giving them specialized attention so that they can excel with very little distraction. How else could this school be in the upper 95% percentiles Iowa testing for all grades? (some getting 99%)!

As a grandmother, I see what Faith Lutheran School is able to provide the children who attend a safe environment. The students are happy, nurtured, and receive a solid education that includes the three R's (reading, writing, arithmetic), plus science art. music, foreign language, history, and sports. The extra curricular programs are well run and supervised by parents well versed in the area for which they are providing guidance. Spiritually, the children attend worship weeky, are taught by Lutheran educators, and are in an environment of trust, & caring while being taught to put into practice a sense of fairness in their decision making skills. The school is not perfect, but is heads above the public school and many private schools. Congratulations go to Principal Joe Henkell and his well trained staff for providing a good, solid Christian environment for the students as well as parents.

Our son has attended Faith for five years now and we have an overwhelmingly positive experience here. Every teacher we have had has been professional, talented, and caring. He has been held to high standards academically and personally, and when discipline has been required it has been handled in a compassionate yet firm manner that has enabled him to learn and grow in all areas of his life. He has been able to experience a variety of teachers for different subjects this year and is able to participate in higher grade math and science classes that keep his interest. Teachers and administration have always been available and willing to discuss progress and needs with us, and it has been a pleasure to work with them to ensure that our son receives an excellent education.

I have has my children at Faith for 10 years. Mt oldest left for high school this year and is excelling in every area. She is doing well academically and socially. Faith gives students all they need to go on into the world prepared in every way. My other children who are still at Faith are doing well also. My youngest who struggles in math gets the attention she needs form her teacher and her teacher works with me to help her at home. Teachers are invloved and are current in educational ideas and research. The school will be growing due to new building that will be taking place this year. New computer labs and science labs will be part of the new building. The students also get a good musical education. My kids can read music! Great school, great staff great leadership!

We enrolled both of our children in the preschool and they have continued through 8th grade at Faith. We have been very pleased with the class sizes, individual attention, the outstanding teaching staff, and all of the youth programs offered. The school and programs offered have been and continue to be a blessing to our children. Our children have been thoroughly prepared for each grade they have entered. Moving on to high school was a breeze. They entered as confident students with no fears of the larger school and were prepared for the peer pressures they would encounter. You should definitely check out Faith Lutheran!

My experience with the school has been outstanding. The students are very well prepared for high school and even college, and the staff goes out of their way to help the students. Freshmen entering high school are extremely well prepared. We considered moving to a public school before 8th grade, but we are very glad we didn't. The education and guidance our child received from the teacher that year was above and beyond anything we could have ever expected. And the continued connection they still receive through the high school youth group has helped keep our child to remain focused, grounded, and on the right path. I couldn't be happier with our experience!

Your review: Our 3 students have been enrolled at Faith Lutheran and their accompanying preschool, Lamb's of Faith for the past 8 years. It is a terrific school! The small class sizes and individualized attention help otherwise average students excel. There math program is the best. My daughter is in the 7th grade, but is getting straight A's in her 9th grade Algebra class. The staff is not only capable, but loves teaching. They attend music class regularly, are also technologically savvy, and are expanding their campus. We would not consider sending our 4 children anywhere else. The education both spiritual and academic the students get is wonderful. Just ask the alumni! If you're nearby and are considering Faith Lutheran, you won't be disappointed.

I give this school a 2 star on discipline. There is a bully problem and the policies are not being followed through. My daughter came to me and requested to go to public school. Some of the new teachers are not trained to handle problems. I agree to a certain point; however, when a child starts to withdrawl and turn away from his/her friends because of negitive peer behavior against them, the teacher should meet with both children and parents.

We have been very happy with the kindergarten program but will not return for successive grades due to the the hiring of inexperienced and unqualified teachers. Many classes will have two teachers splitting a full time position into two part time jobs. These staff changes are not in the best academic interest of the children. Too bad, they were off to such a great start.

We have been very happy at Faith, but will not be returning next year. The administration is making changes that are causing enrollment to go down and the school in shrinking instead of growing. The quality of the education in the current Kindergarten is exceptional. However, the quality of the education going forward seems to be going down with non-experienced teachers and a lack of enthusiasm in the teachers that are there. The Parent/Teacher leadership (PTL) is also lacking in relation to forward thinking and cannot come to a consensus on anything. There are also very few extracurricular activities. It is too bad- this school has been wonderful in the past and has a great reputation, but currently seems to be lacking and unless they can start making decisions based on academics their positive reputation is at stake.

We began at Faith this fall in the Kindergarten and we extremely happy with this school. The teachers are highly motivated to teach the kids the basics as well as higher level learning. The class size is very small, which is a great part of the school, the kids have a lot of one on one attention with teachers in subjects like math, science, reading, etc. The parents are very involved, and the overall spirit of the school is very positive. We are very happy and plan to stay at Faith Lutheran in the upcoming years.

While parental involvement may be high, the administrators depend to much on the parents to provide assistance at the campus and while they may have good intentions, they are in many instances intrusive when involved with other parents. I give the school a below average review because they have an incredible opportunity to provide top notch education to the children but fail to live up to expectations.

This is a wonderful school to send your children to for the academics, low ratio's, and to learn about Gods love. The parents that send their children here are like a small town comunity and are very blessed in sending their children to Faith Lutheran.
