Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Contra Costa Christian School is not only focused on providing a quality, hands on education but also on developing a child's character. A focus on treating others with respect, providing service to the immediate community and the world and honoring God in all we do is reinforced in a very relevant way for the students. Being at Contra Costa Christian School you immediately become part of a community dedicated to holistic learning and growth.

My child has exelled in academics. Her learning level is over and above the standard for her grade level. Because of the music program, we have seen a gift develop and blossom. However, beyond academics, CCCS teachers and administrators truly love their students. This is a family community where the staff engages with the parents for a relationship through learning and life. Together they want to be a part of raising our children to be the best they can be. They are preparing our young one's to face adulthood through success. I wouldn't have our child enrolled ANYWHERE else!

My son attends the pre-kindergarten program at CCCS. Words can not express my appreciation and admiration for the preschool director and pre-k teachr, Mrs. Porto. Mrs. Porto's energy, enthusiasm and creativity for the children in her class, goes well beyond that of your typical teacher. She cares deeply and personally about each child learning, interaction and their developing personalities. Each of the teachers she's brings to assist in her class bring unique backgrounds, experience and contributions.. They have all clearly been chosen to serve at CCCS and I'm so grateful we have them. We look forward to sending our son to the elementary school next year. We've been extremely impressed by all the administrators and facility. The CCCS community feels so much like my childhood experience - a warm and welcoming community - staff and parents alike - who care about each others success and well-being.

My son has been at the school for 9 years since Kindergarten and loves every minute of it. Small class size, great teachers/staff members, christian based education, you can't find a better combination!!

My three children have attended CCC over the past 7 years. From upper grade school to high school, I am pleased by the family atmosphere and loyalty of the teachers. If you are looking at a committed group of teachers to help improve the academic standards of your children, this is your one stop place for everything. Academics, testing, sports, drama, and the music is out of this world. Your child(ten) will no doubt be a big fish in a little pond, challenged to shine and do things they'd not have a chance at doing in a larger school.

This is a small private Christian school offering pre-school through high school. I like the school because it offers my children (starting at age 3) to learn about Christ. The room sizes are small (8-13 kids per class) so my kids get a lot of hands on involvement. Because it's a small school you learn to know most people within the school fairly quickly. Everyone seems to have the same objective which is to sacrifice the finanacial burden but reap the long term benefits of having their children have a Christian education. The school requires parent involvement with volunteering which is fine to offset benefits of allowing the kids to go to this school. Truly wonderful leadership, Christ based and no other agendas. The school also has after school programs and sports which is nice so you don't have to shuttle the kids all over the place. They have before and after school day care as early as 7am - 6pm for those that have long work days. It's nice to see classes, teachers and staff praying before events and throughout the day. You won't find this in a public school.

I see a couple of comments from disgruntled parents. First off they don't appear to be very humble & have a Christian attitude in their comments which is concerning. I have 3 children at this school & I have not seen any of these things that these other parents are commenting on happen. The school education is fine with a good balance. The children learn not only the basic classes (math, english, science, etc) but also have what other public schools don't offer (music, band, sports, Bible class) along with daily prayer & Christ in their lives. The Dean recently came on and is making changes to advance the school with Apple products. This is great. The kids, parents & staff all embrace the changes. School testing & reviews for grades, classwork, etc are emailed weekly (attendance, homework completion, testing, etc) so for this other parent to say that they didn't get grades until it was too late is absurd. I get emails the same day if my kid didnt complete his homework! The school does have foreign exchange students but why does that matter to this parent? Are they judgmental against foreigners who speak english? Great school, don't be swayed by these other comments.

Most of the families I referred as we attended this school left quickly due to many negative factors, including us after several years, even with a change of leadership this past year. I would tell you to not waste your time with this school especially for the price.Teachers are great and some are out of the box thinkers when teaching, which is wonderful but there are many other private schools in the area who provide a similar staff and have more current curriculum, including ipads or computers in the classroom. The closest public school to our home has assessment testing in the elementary level where you know where your child is at in math and reading skills weekly. We found our child was behind when we received our annual testing in the summer after school is out, although report cards were always A's and B's. A little late in assessments, then find out that they cannot help and we need to hire a tutor. Also, don't let the new apple laptops one-on-one campaign fool you. Not only do you have to pay for tuition at a high rate for your 8th-10th grader but must also purchase a $1300-$2000 laptop. Glad we did not stay until 8th grade. Do your homework and research other schools.

I have watched this school deteriorate more and more over the last 6 years. Every family I invite never stays more than 1-2 years. It's embarassing! The school seems to be more interested in bringing in foreign exchange students than maintaining their American population. At this point, there are more Asian exchange students in the high school than American! Most of the good teachers have left. The new principal is milk toast and has no real mind of his own. The money from a couple of the families guides all of his decision-making. Very sad. Glad we only have one more year here.

My children have attended CCCS for the past 17 years (the second child is now a Junior). They attended from Pre-K through HS. Both are turning out to be truly wonderful and decent human beings who know GOD. As a parent, it does not get better than that.

We have two children who have attended CCCS from preschool through 4th grade. We started there as it was one of the few schools which offered full time preschool and kindergarten as well as a quality after school program. We appreciate that our children learn in an environment where they receive quality instruction and individual attention. Each year, we have witnessed the building blocks of education on a strong foundation which is supported by love and encouragement from classmates, their families and the CCCS staff. As the parents, we are the authoritative figure in our children's lives; but we have seen those same expectations replicated in the classrooms at CCCS. We appreciate the direction of the school; and in particular, the efforts toward offering a well rounded program with after school activities and wonderful athletic opportunities in which everyone has an opportunity to participate.

I have had 4 children (now 3) who attend CCCS. We moved to CA 5 years ago and 2 of my children went to a very expensive highly-reputed Christian private school there. When they started at CCCS, they were behind where the rest of the class was. I'm amazed that, for a small school, all that the elementary school has to offer, while the public schools are cutting back - music & band, Spanish, library, PE, Bible, book clubs, and more... The average test scores are well above national average. Yet, the focus in school is NOT preparing for the standardized tests. My children have thrived at CCCS. Because of the small size, the children get a lot of attention and more opportunities than a kid would have in a bigger, more competitive, environment. For example, my daughter, who loves drama and is in middle school, has received such amazing parts in the Middle School musicals. Also, CCC just hired a new Headmaster who has amazing vision and is putting CCC on the Apple platform next year. All kids, 7th grade and up, will have to have MacBooks.

My twin girls started at CCCS last year in the Pre-K program and have continued into kindergarten. All of their teachers have been personally invested in their education and have demonstrated caring and devotion time and time again. My girls love it at CCCS and I love watching their enthusiasm as they learn and grow.

My grand daughter started at Contra Costa Christian School in Walnut Creek over a year ago. I have volunteered in the classroom, on field trips and other activities. I have attended the Grandparen'ts Days and thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Pageants. My grand daughter loves school and hates to miss even a single day. I especially like that CCCS offers music, PE, bi-lingual, arts and other services that so many of the public schools can no longer afford to offer.

Our son has ben at CCC for 2 years now. We wanted him to learn in a loving environment where he would learn Christian values. The teachers truly care about the children. The education he is getting in Kindergarten is great! It is amazing to hear him recite Bible verses, and learn about the world around him (last week it was naming all of the planets!) We highly recommend Contra Costa Christian.

Our daughter has been attending Contra Costa Christian for the last year and a half and we couldn't be happier!!! The class sizes are more than reasonable. The values and education are excellent. We love the curriculum. The administration, faculty, and staff are readily available for conferences. The music program is dynamic, The Christian based education is inspiring not only to our daughter but to our entire family. We highly recommend Contra Costa Christian School.

Our daughter started at CCCS in first grade. We were drawn to the faith based quality education and small class sizes. We know we made the right decision. The teaching staff is incredible and provides a varitey of additional courses including music, arts, foreign language, and technology even at the lower grade levels. This was also very important to us. Our daughter is thriving and we welcome any and all new families to join our CCCS family!

My child is currently in Kindergarten at CCCS. She started in the preschool at three years old and has grown and blossomed over the past 2 years. The teachers truly love their roles and take care and pride in teaching the children. Our family has felt truly embraced by the tight-knit community and our daughter is thriving. We value the Christian based education and small class sizes. The school put together several community fundraisers that are very fun and quite successful. The new head of school that started in 2012 is making positive changes to improve the grounds and grow the school. I would strongly recommend anyone considering private school and valuing a Christian education come to CCCS.

My children are enrolled in the school's PSP program. I homeschool them but they still have the option to take classes on campus and participate on the sports teams. The homeschool director sets up meetings to help me in my homeschooling. There are also teaching resources available from the library I can borrow. I feel I have the support I need to homeschool my children effectively with plenty of opportunities for them to spend time with other children.

My child is in PreK at CCC. She loves it. She absolutely loves it. The Teachers are wonderful. They care for their students as if they were their own. We have noticed our child grow and learn from her time at CCC. On top of the teachings the kids have fun. There are plenty of events to participate in such as sports and the arts. Not to mention this institution has PreK daycare. Not many offer this service. Each day I drop my child off to school she is excited to go.

I selected Contra Costa Christian for my son due to the small class sizes, the low tuition relative to area private schools, but most importantly because it teaches a Christian world view. I like that the school is not run by a particular church, but has families from over 50 different Bible-believing churches, so my sons have had the benefit of fellowship with children from the larger community of Christians. They have learned they share belief that Jesus is the Son of God, our Savior who died for our sins, and they have learned about how God designed the world, in Math and Science class, not just in Bible class. This school has an excellent music program, and a thriving sports program, as well as drama productions, and Art. Many cause the high school is small, the students mix it up with kids that in a large school might be in another "click.". I have been a parent of a student here since 2000, and this year the second of my two sons will be graduated from CCCS. Most graduates enter colleges, many with scholarships, and AP credits, due to our AP program. The teachers here are mentors, assisting parents in raising and educating our children with a Christian world view.

I am a parent of a kindergarten student. My child began attending Contra Costa Christian School through the preschool program. Over the past two years it has been rewarding to see my child develop, grow and learn. I truly appreciate the Biblical foundation that the school is founded upon. I am a parent of a seventh grader. My child started attending Contra Costa Christian School in the fifth grade and I have been extremely pleased and impressed with the quality of the school from the staff and teachers to the parents and students. The school is dedicated to the students and the accessibility that parents have to the teachers and their child's progress is outstanding. I really appreciate the ability to be able to login and learn where my child stands with her grades everyday or look at what assignments are due. I find CCCS to be an amazing school that provides a great community for my child to learn and grow.

My two kids have been enrolled at CCCS since preschool. My daughter is now in 2nd grade and my son is in kindergarten. My husband and I love it. Our kids LOVE it too! It is a smaller than average school (although they are trying to bring up enrollment which is no easy task in today's economy) where all the kids know each other and the staff has a genuine & authentic love for their students and their jobs. And I believe this is felt by each child at the school. This past summer a new head-of-school was hired and he is making some fantastic changes to move the school forward. In addition to the school, my kids also go to the CCCS Afterschool Care program each day. My two kids very much enjoy this as well. In fact they get mad when I get off work early and pick them up because they miss out on fun with their friends and the 'project' for the day. My kids feel safe and loved by all the staff and families at CCCS. My husband and I feel so incredibly comfortable with our decision to send our kids to CCCS.

Teachers are deeply committed and experienced. They skillfully push and pull students with the right balance. The teachers also maintain open communication with parents. The teachers and administration strive hard to integrate new students. The head of school is new, so I really can't evaluate the category of "Principal Leadership" yet. Nevertheless, the Board that oversees the school clearly works closely with the head of school and the top administrators to deliver an effective education for the students and to sustain the excellence of the school over the longer term. The school administration, though small, is highly effective. They very effectively enable and support the mission of the school. Sports coaches are teachers and parents. In addition to developing the athletic skills of the students, they also consciously develop the student athletes into capable adults. Among the high school students, I notice that the usual age and class year barriers are largely absent. The students seem to get along together very well and enjoy one another's company. The general atmosphere of the school more resembles a family than a typical school. AP courses are somewhat limited.

I have had two children at the school and I am also a staff member. Over the past 14 years that I have been connected with the school, CCCS has become a second home for me and my family. The teachers are excellent and really care and invest time into their students.

Such a sad heaviness about this place. You just wonder when will they finally close the school. Our child CCC for two hears. Our teachers were dear folks but the facilities and the "just getting by" environment did not justify the tutition compared to other schools. They have a little high school sharing the same halls and facilities, their small classes are not by design but by demand (lack of). We did not feel comfortable mixing elementary school halls with high school students. It is too bad and sad to see a place with such a burden of survival.. We wish them the best of luck.

I have a preechool and a 4 grader and my kids love this school all I see is that they are happpy enjoying friends and learning so much, the teachers are great, caring, and allways doing their best for the kids to learn and help to get good grades,I haven't seen any bullying as I read on some post,be sure if I see that i will be the first to stop it and to tell on a review, CCCS has a challenging curriculum my son coming from Bentley school one of the most expensive and super strong curriculum did have a bit to improve in some areas, now he is an excellent student, and happy to have friends and a teacher that cares,I recommend CCCS if you are ready to experience a change in great Values, morals, compassion, love to the lord, respect and quality education.

I am currently going to cccs and I absolutely love it. The teachers are wonderful. One day I was upset and crying and one teacher took the time to hug me during class until I was ok. The teacher could have been teaching but instead they took the time to comfort me and care for me. That is dedication. I love this school! I have gone here my whole life.

I went to this School when my parents were going through a divorce. I was forced to go to this school and hated every second of it. The first day I was bullied beyond belief. I had no friends and never made any. NO ONE CHILD SHOULD GO THROUGH THE PAIN I WENT THROUGH.

As a recent college grad and a CCC alum, I would never consider sending my children here. I was bullied relentlessly for 6 out of the 10 years I went to CCC and no teacher did anything to help. Many of those teachers are still there. In high school, I faired better socially but my teachers showed immaturity, lack of understanding in the subject, and outright rudeness to me. Some admitted to not understanding the subject they taught. Thanks to the other extra-curricular events I was a part of and the guidance of a few good teachers (all of which are gone now), I graduated with top honors from one of the nation's best schools. CCC, however, refuses to acknowledge my achievement because they are closed-minded and think that my non-religious, somewhat liberal college (which, I might add, brought me closer to Christ than CCC ever did) is a horrible, disgusting, sinful place. I never once experienced the true and enduring love of Christ at CCC and I wouldn't expect any other child to either. Send your kids to Berean for high school, they'll do much better in all aspects.

Our experience at CCCS was mixed. Some of the teachers and staff were marvelous, others not as great. For us, it just wasn't the 'fit' we were hoping for. We felt the higher grades lacked a solid Biblical perspective; the younger & middle grades were better but we didn't want to split our kids between multiple schools. We left and found another school that we absolutely love where our kids are well taught, well loved and in a more Christlike environment.

A good all around christian school but not perfect. My son loved it, my daughter was bullied alot and injured. The school is ignorant about bullying existing. Many of the students are connected to faculty which we feel may account for difficulties in addressing issues. This school wants to come across like everything is perfect, so when something goes wrong, they have a hard time taking responsibility, and the victim becomes ostracized.

This school is like any other schools in the USA. There are always bad people no matter what school you go to. The only thing I like about this school is that it offers religious classes. Here is what my cousin said, 'Yes many things depend on the neighborhood, but no matter were you go, There will always be a bad seed.'

Why would you send your child anywhere else? A Christ-centered environment and a solid education to allow your child to flourish in the hectic world we live in. Lots of extra-curricular activities if they choose to participate. Shouldn't your child's faith be first and foremost in your desires for your child.

What a great educational experience this school offers! Compared to other private schools the tuition is very, very reasonable. They just added all day to the pre-school which is a great help to working parents. It is great for single parents since the extended family atmosphere fills in a lot of the blanks in my child's life (extended family galore around here!).

My experience at CCC has gone from teacher to now parent. I can not say enough about the quality of teachers here now that I am a parent. Academic expectations are high, but reasonable and teachers work together with parents to get the most out of those kids. There is a very high quality of work ethic in the teachers and they are so supportive and loving toward their students. They really take each child for who God made them and encourage them to experience all that He intended for them. I think I really took this for granted while I was on staff. We could not imagine our children anywhere else. We will always make the sacrifices necessary to keep them here. We love the community and have a place where we know people are working in partnership with us as we raise our children.

I have 3 kids that attend this school and we love it. We have gone through Pre-school - 7th and will continue to go through high school. Christ is the center of all subjects and guide our school. The teachers are terrific and very responsive to the students. It is a small school so my kids don't get lost in the shuffle and I always know what is going on in their lives. I really appreciate the family environment and have made great friends with other parents.
