Profile Completeness

ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is yet the best school I've ever been to. The teachers are so motivative and kind, and the students everywhere are willing to be your friend. It feels like you're family at this school. I like that this school has taught me everything I need to know about yet it's so smooth to go through. I think my school is great enough, so this is why I give it 5 stars, and a high five to you, Stanley G. Oswalt Academy

its used to be great elementary school. but after school became K-8 grade school everything changed. Teachers are not qualify to teach 7 or 8 grade. they are too busy copying it off from their notes and can't explain things when students have questions. Teachers needs to get more education or need to hire who can actually teach! As a year goes by, i'm just upset and very sad to see school change.

My daughter has attended this school since kindergarten. Every teacher she has had has been willing to go above and beyond to help their students be successful. Oswalt continues to use the latest technology to give its students the best academic advantage possible. There may be a slight amount of bias on my part as I am an alum of Oswalt myself. It was great then and is continuing the legacy!

My children are new to Oswalt Academy K-8. I am very impressed with the principal, teachers, parents and students. There is great communication with each other through email and in person. My son is a fifth grader and loves the apple one program they offer. I just received a review of my child's progress through snapgrades.net and I can't say enough about this school and all involved. The Pricipal and Teachers really show how much they care for the future of our children. The PTSA is amazing! They encourage you to get involve and participate. My children love going to school!!!

We have a highly trained and exemplary staff of teachers and support staff who truly teach to the individual student. We have a rigorous curriculum that is inquiry based so that the students can learn to 'think outside the box'. Our students are incredible human beings who come to school every day ready to be challenged and eager to take on whatever will make them successful at the end of the school day. We have a very strong PTSA who support teachers and students in every realm of the educational process. Parents and the community members are an important support system to the education of all children on our campus. We have two administrators that guide and keep us focused and uplifted throughout our teaching experience at Oswalt. They are true educators who keep the teachers informed and up to date with the latest strategies and processes of teaching methods and especially educate the parents in regards to their child's education at Oswalt. They are truly, what is considered, 'hands-on' administrators who care and take pride in every aspect of the campus structure.

Walnut's Stanley G. Oswalt Elementary School is consistenly ranked one of the top K-6 schools in CA (if not in the nation) for its academics program, quality of faculty and staff, great PTA and students, and much more... Stanley G. Oswalt is no longer a K-6, it is a K-8 school this year. Go Oswalt!

And all they have is very possitive memories from their "Oswalt Days"...from the actual facility to their favorite teachers. The staff is outstanding and the curriculum is challenging and yet extremely fun for the kids. Always being cutting edge, and thinking fast forward...in the implementation of the Apple Laptop Program...Phenomenal!

What I love about our school, Stanley G. Oswalt, is that the teachers and staff are the most loving, caring and supportive administrations any students and parents can ask for. We have great after school programs to help out those students who may have stay back to wait on their parents to pick them up. Great academic programs for our students at all levels. PTA at Oswalt is a suport for our school and our teachers. Fundraisers and charity drives are very planned and meaniful. School is always so clean and well staffed. Oswalt is very informative as in school agendas and schedules. The students all enjoy comming to Oswalt to learn. My kids love to go to school every day, with the new apple to one lap top program, my 6th grader had excel in computer skills rapidly. It's truly a wonderful school!

Wow, this school is like a private school without the $500 a month sticker. The teachers seam to give a 110% even at the junior high level. The level of expectation is high. They also have a new Apple 1 to 1 program, which means my children will leave this school advanced ,beyond myself and most high school students, in computer technology. There is only a few schools in the state with this program! Its the future. The best thing about this school is the feeling of family and caring.

I have been a parent at Oswalt for almost 10 years now, a parent of two students who have now moved on to high school and junior high and one still remaining at Oswalt. I have been rather spoiled by their level of excellence, unfortunately their feeder middle and high schools don't live up to Oswalt standards, hence the reason of why my two eldests now attend the Walnut School District. Oswalt reached well and above my expectations and my children have benefited tremendously, unfortunaly this the only school in their district that shows this kind of excellence, which is why I am very content that it will soon extend to 7th and 8th grade.

Very dissatisfied with school. It seemed that the focus of the school was to get test scores as high as possible and at any cost. The childrens happiness is not a concern. There was no balance as far as academic and the childs well being. Tired of having to re-enroll child back every year witth paper works like a new student enrolling. School should provide child with necessary school supplies and parents shouldn't have to provide it or buy everything for the school needs. Never had this kind of problem in other district like Walnut which I know provide everything for the students.

Oswalt has surpassed my expectations of what a school should be. They're staff, teachers, and PTA all go above and beyond. This school is perfectly sized and able to accommodate the needs of the children and the classes are perfectly appropriate in number. The location of the school is perfect, away from crowded streets, and comfortable enough to walk and feel at ease. Oswalt is a parent's dream come true.

I've been an Oswalt parent for quite some time. One of the best aspects of the school is parent involvement. I know it's made a positive impact on our children. I agree that the quality of the environment has changed. I agree that the leaders' focus on increasing their API score has taken it's toll on the school's overall balance. I don't believe this has anything to do with the teacher's as many of them have been dedicated to Oswalt for years. I've personally never had a communication problem with a teacher. I've always felt they have the best interest of our children in mind and know that there are limits set for them. If I have a problem to discuss, I'll most likely go to my child's teacher before administration.

Unfortunately, Oswalt Elementary focuses way too much on their API score. As a result, the students don't receive the educational attention they deserve. Leadership at the school needs improvement on all levels. Parent teacher communication is very poor. The school does have a high API score and is one of the best elementary schools in the Rowland Unified School District. The focus for the school needs to be brought back to its main resource,
