Montessori Academy of West Covina

Gonna be honest. The only reason my child still goes there is because I can't afford to take her anywhere else. I was invited to take part in a program paid by the government. . Here are my issues: 1. 2 teachers with an 8 to 1 ratio with a class of 16 may work for older children but for healthy active curious (sometime bouncing off the walls - as they should have the right to be) toddlers, it's ridiculous. The head teacher is obviously overwhelmed. 2. None of the teachers are montessori trained. At best, one of the teachers is "in the process" of getting her certification, which really means she just started her 2 year training a few weeks ago. Look, if you're looking for an environment where you can drop off your child and they'll be safe and fed till you can pick them up, then this is as good as any. But if you really want somewhere that nurtures and teaches your child, giving them the individual attention they need as infants and toddlers to maximize their potential, as well as keeping them safe and cared for, I would look further if you can afford it. On the upside, the staff is friendly and they do what they can (within limits) to accommodate your concerns.

My daughters attend this school I couldnt ask for more. Great place to learn! My daughter is only 2 and she knows her abc's and numbers. The staff and parents are very hands on and interact greatly with the children. Lots of extra activites

They need more experienced and nurturing teachers!

The staff is really friendly. The teachers invest alot of time and personal interest in the child's success. They are also part of the LAUP program which subsidizes tuition for pre-school.
