My son is enrolled in first grade and we recently moved here from Chicago, IL. I was very worried about the LAUSD school system and put a lot of time looking for the right school when we moved out here. I am very happy with the school , teacher and principal. The PTA is very active and really cares about the school and children. The principal makes it a point to talk to you when she sees you. Mrs. Taylor ( my son's teacher) is a great teacher and my son really likes her. He is reading way beyond my expectations for a first grader. The homework is challenging and they really demand a great deal from the students. We are planning to move and may end up out of school boundaries and I have contacted the school to find out how i can keep him enrolled for next year since I really want him to stay. I have been very happy so far!

We started at Hamlin in 2007 and every year just keeps getting better. We are so pleased with the teachers we've had. They are caring and want only the best for their students. Our principal is very proactive and always embracing to parents. Who would have thought that our little "gem" of a school could produce such amazing API scores. Our PTA is absolutely amazing and the best we've had in years. The only thing that would make this school perfect is more parent participation!

We love this school. I can't say enough wonderful things about this school. It has a outstanding PTA, wonderful caring teachers and staff and a great principal. My daughter had the most awesome kindergarten teacher Mrs. Sax and now has a amazing first grade teacher Mr. Hererra (all the teachers are wonderful). She loves to go to school everyday. We also love the after school program Noble Kids. They are open during spring, summer and winter breaks. They have been a real life saver during these times. My daughter actually asks me to pick her up later during the evening so she can stay.

I can't say enough about Hamlin St. My family has been involved in the school since 2007. We have been assisted every time with ANY issue we have had with our children and in turn we assist the school when every and how ever we can. Their teachers have been supportive, encouraging, and down right GREAT! We are asked about Hamlin often and I brag that Hamlin is a Blue School, was recently awarded SAS status, and has a very active PTA. I personally know many of the parents and feel comfortable on campus. It is a community and this is so important for our students as well as important for my piece of mind. If I had to wish for anything for our students at Hamlin, it would be an instrumental music program but we do have a vocal music teacher. That would be my ONLY wish! Go Huskies!

I love Hamlin Street Elementary School! The teachers are wonderful, caring individuals who care about the advancement of the kids. The environment is ward and inviting which makes us parents want to be involved. The principle cares so much about the school, the teacher, the kids and the parents and really encourages everyones involvement inside and outside of the classroom. This may not be one of the most known schools, but it should be!!!!
