My children are educated at the highest of academic standards and in that regard Kadima is a great school. But, it is much more than that as well - it is a strong community where all the teachers in all the grades know who my children are by name, where small class size ensures that they are learning concepts and thinking critically, and where the community takes care of itself in times of need. There is warmth and care in the halls but also an expectation to succeed in many subject areas and be enriched by a dual curriculum that also embraces technology and the arts.
We have had our children enrolled in day school since pre-K, and would not have changed had we not moved. ENROLL AT KADIMA!!! Do it now - it is a gem. Within one month, the school UNDERSTOOD our children, not just as students but as individuals. Perhaps the best way to sum it up is to share my experience as a parent chaperone on a week long 7th grade trip to the Sierras. It was a PACKED, 24-7 week in physical circumstances that were rustic; a great opportunity to see how the kids "really" are, even when stretched. The comraderie, and yes, even empathy shown by each child TO A PERSON was like nothing I've ever seen. Kadima is a school where children are not only taught; they are in an environment that manages to create human beings who treat each other better as 7th graders than many adults.
Our daughters, one a Kadima graduate and one a current student, are entirely secure in their identities as young Jewish women empowering them to confidently and joyfully engage with a diverse world. As our graduate enters her first your of college, she takes with her, among many things, the abilities to competently write with depth and eloquently speak with passion in public forums that are a direct result of her experiences at Kadima.
Our children not only go to Kadima, but they are a part of the Kadima family, which supports them to grow, and teaches them the value of community, as well as the desire to learn and achieve.
Kadima's excellent academics & nurturing environment have been an amazing place for my children to grow & learn.
Kadima is a Jewish Day School in West Hills. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about the education the children receive, the love and care that the teachers show the children and the involvement of the parents.
Kadima is a wonderful school for my kids. I have 1 graduate and 2 current students. The children are very close to each other and very supportive, after normal fussing. Each of the teachers get to know all of their students personally and if there are any concerns or problems, I hear about it right away. I have had my share of issues and the staff has shown that they really are there to help and they really do care. The academic standards are high so be ready for homework. They have lots of extracurricular activities available. The kids can show up early or stay late if you can't pick them up until after work. Parent involvement can be as high as you want it to be. We're glad we are here.
Kadima has a well-developed academic program as well as a very robust Hebrew and Judaic studies curriculum. Our 7th grader began her Kadima career in 1st grade and is nearly fluent in conversational Hebrew. Her English writing skills are 9th grade level and she is doing very well in pre-algebra. New this year is an athletics program which includes competitions with other private schools. I believe the girl's basketball team came in second and the soccer team is looking great. As a non-profit school, funding is a challenge which the faculty and board are conscious of and taking great measures to remedy. I've heard rumors of a music program beginning next year. Morals and ethics are a large part of Kadima, and the children graduate with a solid sense of themselves, their Jewishness, and their responsibilities in the world. The students maintain intimate and long-lasting friendships with their peers.
Kadima is a wonderful, warm, Schechter school with a strong reputation for the best Hebrew fluency program in the Valley. There are some major improvements being implemented and a new site opening next year. The test scores are above the public schools and the class sizes are small. There is a lot of education about values and how to treat other people and there is little bullying that you see in the public schools. There is a great board in place. In about 5 years this will be the top day school in the Valley.
