I am very thankful for the Westwood Charter School. Our teacher is so kind and caring. If your child needs an alternative to traditional publick schools you should consider Westwood Chart School.
I'm so thankful for the Westwood Charter School. It has given my children an opportunity to learn more than a traditional school setting. I saw a huge difference in my children education. The teachers are well educated and are there for your child. My children benefit from receiving one on one help with their teacher. I will never put my children back into a traditional school setting.
We love the school and they have been so good to our children. Its a public school that utilizes private school philosophies and teachings!
This school is nothing short of amazing. It starts with an incredible staff of teachers who range in experience, so that there is a perfect balance of young energy with senior experience. Both of our children (one who has since finished) had an excellent teacher every single year during their stay at Westwood Charter. They develop math skills, language skills, a love of reading, science insights, social skills, history, and the arts. They have created an environment where kids love going to school and learning. The strength of this school lies in the passion of the teachers, who put in countless hours beyond those in class with the kids so that curiculum is exciting and the kids experience modules from many different perspectives. I can't say 'thank you' enough to the teachers who have gone out of their way to make my kids smarter and better young people.
My son has all of the positive and negative attributes of a gifted child. Unfortunately, we noticed that he was given mere busy work. He was getting very bored and misbehaving. Coupled with my husband learning that there is no gifted program at this school and that the school can barely prepare a package to send a gifted student to middle school, we decided to take a big risk moving our kids to Brentwood Science Magnet. Only in hindsight have we been at peace with our decision. 1) My son is in one of 3 high achieving classes. He commented that most kids got answers right and they just move on to other topics; 2) STARS (after school program) is free!; 3) Brentwood assumes that both parents work and makes every effort to clue parents in on the homework and day assignments and working parents can attend more meetings at night.
My daughter went to Westwood and was very happy there and made tons of new friends. She liked all of her teachers and the principal was very visable arounf the school. It was a lovely campus for my child to grow up on!*
My older son went to this school and was very happy here. Principal was very visible around campus and very accessible. Lots of homework, almost to the point of having no outside life. But overall, it was a positive experience.
