This is one of the worst school that my child has attended. My child used to attend one of the top 5 school districts in CA. We ended up in the yuba-sutter area and was very surprise how run down the schools are. My child has an IEP and this school district does not follow the IEP. All the IEP students are taught at the same level. What is sad is the principal who also is the special education director has a daughter that has an IEP. My view is she thinks her daughters needs are more important than other IEP students. If more parents filed a complaint with the state maybe this will put pressure on the school to actually do their job. My child informed me that the whole class was not going to have math for one week due to two students that were on a field trip. Reading logs are based on the Honor System. I attended back to school night and one teacher said if a student misses school to go on a family trip to the Grand Canyon for example, the student would probably learn more compare to being at school. As a parent I was shock to hear this. Since this is a small school many teachers also teach other subjects. This school does not have a gate program or any programs for students that are high academically. For students that are special needs be prepared for your child to be provided with limited resources since the principals daughters needs trumps other students. Save yourself the heartache and transfer your student to a better school district where they actually care. Yes you might have to deal with rich families and a longer commute but it is worth a great education. There is a reason why placer has been recognized for having the best school districts. Rocklin School district was voted number 1 and Roseville School district was voted number 4. While Wheatland was voted last for best school district.
