Teacher quality
Principal leadership
Parent involvement
My daughter has attended the school since 1st grade. Every teacher has been excellent! The administration listens to us. 2 Thumbs UP!
I would not recommend this school to other parents! My daughter as well as my 2 nephews attended Palm View since 2000. This school is in our neighborhood and we thought we were making a great investment by sending our children to a 'private' school. Only years later did we find out how Unorganized, Unprofessional and Academically defunct this school really is! Since 2004, they have been through 3 different Principals and have had many staff turnovers. The latest Principal Mr. Miller is very unpersonable and lack luster . Not at all your typical Christian 'leader'. Whenever a problem would arise, Mr. Miller did his best to avoid dealing with the issue. The problem would in turn never find proper resolution. This 08-09 school year, there has already been 4 families (and counting) to leave Palm View and transfer to Trinity Lutheran (whittier). Shame on you Marvin Miller and Palm View!
Excellent School, Many teachers have Master Degrees or higher, from Universities like Pepperdine, Whittier College, Biola & APU. Abeka constitutes about 20% of textbook materials. All content is taught at CA state standards with ESLRs Students can study French, Spanish, Chess in rigourous curriculum. Active parent group and open administration makes communication easy. We are one of a few schools that will accept learning disabled students that need RSP. While that may drive average API scores down, it creates better community and does not diminish the achievements that other individuals can attain.
My husband and I withdrew our daughter after third grade. We are public school teachers and saw that the school administration is full of fluff and there are too many extra curricular activities with little emphasis on the academic. Abeka curriculum does not teach the concepts that our children need to know that will prepare them for high school. In speaking with some of the adjunct staff, I found out that many do not have college degrees! Are the other parents aware of this?
My husband is a H.S. teacher and I'm an administrative asst. in LAUSD. Our daughter has been at Palm View sine P-K. She is now in 6th grade. Since Mr. Miller became principal, I feel that the school has alot more organization to it. The teachers are extremely competent. My daughters test scores were post high school in many areas. Teching students right from wrong and how to be a good person is something that is not taught in public schools and is very important to our family. I feel that my daughter is getting a good educational foundation to prep her for H.S. and college. The PTF has done many wonderful activities for the students. This school is family oriented, it is money well invested. There is nothing more important than our children.
Classroom environment is safe, but administration lacks educational skills. What is the use of having extra curricular activities if the academic performance is equal or lower to the neighboring public schools?
This school is very good. Many activities going on and also offers many foreign languages. Football team is great and the MVP of league attends Palm View.
It is a great school. The principle is great and the teachers very competent. They care for the academic success of your child as well as their values and this is very important for my family.
