I have a daughter that goes to this school, and her 1st grade teacher was great. She is now in the 2nd grade.
We have a daughter with behavior problems and difficulties adjusting to her teachers additionally One that is very bright, They both attend WP school. We have been to the principals office on many occasions because of many circumstances that my daughter has had, By know we know most of the school staff and everyone has been very nice to us, and usually we are very embarrassed for her actions. We have been very lucky with the wonderful teachers that my daughters have had, We wish that the school would give awards for the teachers they do such a great job especially with children like my daugter. The principal is always on top of everything that makes this school very safe. All we need is a school PTA and more parent involvement.
My daughter attended Wilmington Park Elementary for the 4th and 5th grade. I have to say that this is an excellent school. The staff and teachers really care about the students. They have great afterschool programs and great extracurricular activities. All in All this is a wonderful school.
My daughter's love Wilmington Park Elementary. Wilmington Park has always give them positive messages on academics and school pride. I love their attendance message. Both of my daughter's had perfect attendance and and were able to receive special award for perfect attendance. They are now their back in school this September and they are both excited on what's to come in the school. They also have a great after school program; GAP and Beyond the bell. All after school employees are fantastic.
Both my boys go to WPE. It is the best school in Wilmington but lacks ART/MUSIC assistant tutoring for kids that need help. I wish we had more opts to pick the school of choice in the harbor area and I would send my kids to other school NO PTA or PTO the parent center is small and limited on what they do with school activities. Needs LOTS of parent leadership to really make a difference in the students and teachers. Could use more help with parent & child family nights or similiar type of events which would be great in this Latino community!
The teacher quality varies widely and there are virtually no extracurricular activities except for an after school intervention program. Students get music once weekly if their class is selscted by the principal. Parents are involved in various ways and there is a good parent network.
My son loves this school, he looks forward to going to school every morning. As far as learning, he has learned alot from there. He is in an EIP program an will be going to kindergarden next year.
