I loved Lockhurst as a child, and was thriiled to return as teacher. It is a great place to learn for my son!
The Principal, staff and families are all wonderful! A true community where all are there to help. It is the village that helps raise the children!!
I love Lockhurst because of the welcoming attitude and understanding the families involved at the school have to children with special needs. I love how the 4th and 5th graders help the younger children who have difficulty communicating, often who don't speak at all, empathize and accept them just the way they are. When a child with autism is having a bad day, perhaps with some screaming, most other students will either ask if they can help or shrug their shoulders in acceptance of the reality. We wish many adults could be this forgiving.
Lockhurst is small enough that our kids don't just get lost in the shuffle. I like the intimacy that comes with a smaller-than-average elementary schools. Kids this age thrive in an environment where the administration, teachers and staff know who they are!
I love Lockhurst because we are like a family. From the teachers to the office workers we all have a great repore and each person is treated like if we were family. My children have had great experiences at Lockhurst. We are a community, friends and family!
Lockhurst is a school that involves the children, parents and the community. My daughter is in the 5th grade and has enjoyed her years at Lockhurst!
My granddaughter has been attending Lockhurst for 3 years, the teachers are the best.
Lockhurst Elementary is dedicated to providing a positive and nurturing environment to children. I commend this school for its encouraging tolerance and cooperation among students, providing them with invaluable long lasting interpersonal communication and social skills.
The teachers are always available and committed. The community is very down to earth and friendly. My kids have both made many friends easily as have I. People help each other out from car pools to Homework. The teachers really love the kids and the integrated environment promotes tolerance and understanding in young children. It is a joy to watch my kids (and ohters) interact with all types of kids in a respectful manner.
Great staff, wonderful families and a sound academic base for our kids.
Caring teachers, staff, and principal/asst principal. We have met great families and made lifelong friends
The school gives opportunities for parents to be involved in everything that goes on in the school, and the staff are so caring, it almost seems like our children are home away from home. It's a wonderful feeling!
It is a Parent involved school. the nunber one priority is 'the children' they not only focous on accidemic but the arts and physical wellness. The staff truly have a passion for their job 'their kids'.
Lockhurst has a great faculty and staff, along with a fabulous after school enrichment program and a group of very involved parents with heavy PTSA participation. I am glad my daughter had the experience she had in her 4 years at Lockhurst.
I love Lockhurst because it truly is a family, students, teachers, staff, administrators all working for our children to have the best school experience.
The school is sensitive to my child's special needs. I just wish that the district provided alternatives more.
I have 2 children who went to Lockhurst. It is a great school, great administrative staff, wonderful teachers and A VERY involved PTSA. All the teachers my children had were very open and receptive with my family. I'm sorry certain parents feel the PTSAA is an elitist group as the door is always open. We constantly court parents, but again, its the same 10-15 parents who show up, which is a shame for a school of over 450 children. When I first starting attending PTSA meetings, I didn't know any of the active members, but soon became friendly and saw how hard they work to make Lockhurst a great school. Go to a meeting, get involved - become a part of this ELITE group and see how much you can add to your child's education.
