The March 27, 2014 posting is inaccurate and was mostly likely posted by a outside agency employee who was removed from this classroom around this time.

The 3-5 grade special ed class is a gloried day care. No consistent home work and is very disorganized. They take a 20 minute walk around the campus instead of learning math and reading.

Lockhurst is a great school! We have been here for 5 years and I love it. My son is happy to go to school everyday and I believe he is getting a quality education. The student body is diverse and the children behave well for the most part. I feel like my child is in good hands at the school and that he is safe from violence and harassment. The principal is tough with the kids, but I believe her intentions are good and that a firm hand is needed to ensure the safety of all children. Through our very involved PTSA our school has been able to maintain PE, computer, and music programs which have been cut in many schools. The grounds are clean with plenty of play area for the children and the pre-k and kinder children stay on their own area of the campus away from the older students. There are lots of after school activities to keep the children busy and fulfilled. The community atmosphere is great and there is a large group of very involved parents that make sure activities and fundraising go on. The teachers are also great! I would recommend Lockhurst to anyone.

My daughter went to Kindergarten in this school. This school is excellent, staffs are very friendly, teachers are extremely good. The principal is very dedicated. My daughter's class teacher was very caring and wonderful. I am glad, we chose this school over our home school.

Perfect I've been in this school for 4 years and Its been Amazing I love it.And when your going to middle school I think you might wanna cry.Because the teachers are nice sometimes they can get harsh But they help u learn and its so amazing Im in Mr.Wylies and he has been Great!

So far, NOT impressed. From orientation on this school has been nothing but contradictory in what new students should do. Can't settle on proper drop off/pick up for kindergarten students. This morning the kindergarten yard was TOTALLY unsupervised during the entire drop off period. Informed my son's class aide, she denied it, and then said, "she'd make a note of it"

This school is 2 thumbs up!!! You always feel that your child is safe, respected and is always learning. I have 2 children at this school one with special needs and one without, but the are both treated the same by the teachers, staff and parents. The Ptsa are some of the most hard working and dedicated parents I have met. I always feel that my voice is heard and welcomed. The campus always has a welcoming and warm vibe to it. Lockhurst has the right class no matter what your childs ability is from special needs to gifted you can find it all on one campus.

This school is awesome! The community of teachers, parents and children are just amazing. The parents are very down to earth and friendly. I have 3 children at the school in grades 1-4, all of them highly gifted. I have had opportunities to go elsewhere, but I would not consider it! My children are taken care of not only academically, but emotionally as well. The teachers and parents and community are all united to help all of our children. The unique all inclusive approach that combines rigorous academics with a universally accessible curriculum enriches my children's brains and hearts. As a teacher of almost 20 years myself, I have never seen such a cohesive and motivated faculty. After my first year at the school, I was welcomed into the parent community with open arms. I now have many personal friends from the school as well as a large and local support group. I HIGHLY recommend this school, no matter what your family is looking for!!!

this school is highly over-rated. the teachers clearly have their hands tied from lack of proper management. the lack of oversight and accountability is due in part to parents' attitudes. lack of concern, wreckless behavior that when politely corrected gets attacked, rudeness and a general "do not care" attitude are pervasive in most parents there. this affects the management's ability to lead the school and clearly there is a reason why they needed to get a magnet school onto the campus - due to low enrollment numbers. people are voting with their feet - elsewhere. a highly over-rated school. my son and i are leaving. you would be wise to ask yourself why they need a magnet school just to keep their doors open. that shows there is something wrong - deeper than surface level at this school.

The staff @ Lockhurst is remarkable. Its nice to see that despite the challenges the district faces due to budget cuts there are teachers that care. Administrative Staff is personable and always there for parents and students. I love Lockhurst.

I'm new to this school, but these last 3 weeks show how much everyone really does work together. It truly is a community school. The students, the parents, the staff and administrators all really do care for one another and seek ways to help each other out on all levels.

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

  • Lockhurst Drive Elementary School is a School for Advanced Studies. We focus on differentiating the curriculum for all students through the use of critical and creative thinking skills that will challenge each child at their developmental thinking level. Students are given the tools of academic language in order to be better thinkers and to understand how they think. We accept students from Kindergarten through 5th grade into our SAS program.
