The teachers are great; PTA does a wonderful job as well. Only gave three stars because the principal is not approachable at all and is actually pretty rude. Whenever I see any of the teachers either at school or on occasion, outside of school, they stop and chat and are so welcoming. The principal is exactly opposite. I approached her once with a simple question and she yelled at me. In the last few years, we have lost many bright students to other schools. We need a new principal that will shape this formerly wonderful school back to where it needs to be.
If anyone is looking for a good school, stay away from this school. I agree with all the comments regarding the Principal of this school. I wonder if LAUSD is aware of all the problems that this school has. She really needs to be taken away from all these children. She has major character and anger issue. She is rude and unable to communicate with parents, let alone to children. All the parents that I know of are looking for other schools. She must be removed immediately.
I don't know if it's a LAUSD thing or the lack of strong leadership, however, this school seriously oversold us and undelivered to our son. We, along with several families, are looking for new schools for our children. It's a shame.
This school used to be good, the principal just ruined it. I had the pulled out my child from the school. Very sad.
this school used tobe good bout the latest principal changed every thing even the rate of the school i am sure the staff of the school are not happy because of her and also parents i hope LAUSD cares abut it and they do somthing to this rude women.
I agree with all the latest reviews of Serrania and its prinipal. She is rude and crazy and seems to have no clue how to run a school. How could lausd allow someone this vindictive and cruel to run a school with our children. Someone has to speak out and have her removed.
This school used to be a wonderful, exciting and safe school to attend. When the latest principal took over everything went down hill. While this school does still have wonder teachers, a lot them have lost their focus on teaching because of the principal and all of her antics. What other principal do you know of has to take ANGER MANAGEMENT???! This school has lost so many wonderful parents and I don't see it getting any better until this woman is removed. LAUSD needs to get a clue and remove her before enrollment is at ZERO!!!!!
It's unfortunate that LAUSD allows someone of this nature to run an elementary school. Children are the ones suffering and so is the community. Many great families have left this once great place. Hopefully something will soon be done to remove this Principal so that Serrania can start to restore its community.
I wrote a review for this school a little bit back, in that review I clearly illustrated how bad this school has become. I didn't name, names but the current principle at Serrania IS THE PROBLEM along with poor API scores and a great exodus of parents including myself from the school. Like I sad before which was magical deleted, I live down the street from the school and my child or future children won't be going to Serrania as long as the current principle is there. STAY AWAY from this school
The principal and office staff there are unwelcoming trivial and petty. Worst excuse I have every seen for a principal they lost documents several times and I had to re-submit my rating for this school is zero
