Beamer is an incredible dual immersion school and one of the top rated schools in Woodland, despite the fact that half of their student population is English as a Second Language. The school is supportive and encourages parental involvement and pride! My kids are getting lifelong benefits from learning Spanish and English at the same time!!!

Beamer is a great school that is very community oriented and takes pride in their students. The teachers WANT to be there and are great at encouraging the kids. There is one staff member that is known to be mean to the kids and nothing is done about them....that is sad and that is what drops their score from a 5 for me to a 4.

Just by looking at me people assume that I speak Spanish. Well in my house hold growing up we were not taught how to speak Spanish. Now that I am a parent myself I have learned how much easier my life might have been if I did learn as a child. My children attend Beamer because I want them to learn what I wasn't able to. Sure I took the Spanish classes as a teen but it was just not the same. I have seen such an improvement in my children and I'm so happy they they are able to speak Spanish so well.

We knew that the test scores at this school were below average when we sent our first child here 4 years ago. The reason we chose to send her here is to have her develop another language as a skill. We read every night we help on homework and we are involved in every aspect of her life. We believed that we could help her with academics if she fell behind. But we knew we could never teach her another language. She is now going into 4th grade and she is fluent in Spanish. Sending your child to a school like this does require much more work than a regular single language school. Most of the homework is in Spanish and neither my wife or myself are fluent enough to help her with say word problems. Its alot of work but I think its paid off.

I am really impressed with how my kids are thriving in Beamer's Dual Immersion Spanish language environment. Both my 2nd and 4th graders are quickly becoming bilingual and biliterate. The staff and principal work tirelessly to learn to incorporate cutting edge teaching techniques that have led the trend in positive growth on the standardized test scores. Both of my kids are gifted and talented and I'm convinced they would be bored by an English only curriculum. Unfortunately, because WJUSD doesn't have much money for GATE at any of their schools. The Dual Immersion experience is the most challenging curriculum at the elementary school level in our district. I love that my kids are growing in an environment that is diverse socially and economically. There is not the pressure for materialism that is so pervasive nowadays. And finally, I love the Ballet Folklorico program where the kids get something unique to Beamer.

Beamer Elementary is a wonderful school. My daughter has picked up Spanish so quickly, she is 1st grade this years and already reads and writes fairly well. She even plays with her toys in spanish!!

My son started Kindergarten last year at Beamer Elementary School. I think it's a great that he'll come away from a public elememtary school fluent in a foreign language!
