Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter transferred from a well-respected public elementary school to St. Francis in 5th grade. We left public schools for various reasons, including classroom size and mean behavior among the kids. St. Francis is not only a warm and nurturing environment for our daughter, but it is actually academically ahead of where she left off in public school. The English curriculum is outstanding and the teachers and administration have been the best I have ever seen. No more "teaching to the test" for public school Star Testing. They actually test in the fall to determine what the kids need to work on the most throughout the year. They also offer an in-school athletic department that is awesome, as well as a weekly music class and band. Kids who need extra help get assistance from specialized teachers and the other kids do not pick on them because they need extra help. I cannot say enough good things about this school and what the entire school community has done for our daughter.

St. Francis is an amazing faith filled community. The teachers, administration & parents are so welcoming. We've been at SFA for 4 years. My children love going to school and spending the day with their teachers & friends. The teachers CARE about your children. They make learning FUN! The confidence & assurance I feel sending my children to such an incredible school community is priceless. We have built life long friendships that will stay with us.

It's odd, but I actually enjoy going to school everyday. The teachers are incredibly caring and understanding. The students are very caring of each other for the most part. We have formed unbreakable bonds with each other and I highly recommend this school being an 8th grader here.

This is our first year here at St Francis of Assisi, and we know our child is in the right place! We came from a public school in the area. Our child is now in an environment where education, faith, security and the goal of helping your child develope and do their best is seen in every aspect of members of this community. The principle, admin, teachers and other families are amazing.

An amazing educational experience for our child! The teachers, staff and principals are 100%dedication to the students and their families. Whats even better, the parents are in 100% support of the school and invest their time and efforts and energy to prove it. This is the best switch from the local public school this year for us. Our child loves it and is thriving in the smaller class sizes, and feels safe , secure, loves learning in this faith based environment. Thank you St. Francis of Assisi!

A terrible school. The teachers don't know how to teach or efficiently communicate with parents. The administration is terrible and thinks it's doing you a favor everytime you ask for something. Academics are clearly lacking. The curriculum is very easy and projects are so simple, a 5 year old could do them.

My Son goes to this school and as Yorba Linda has a very good public school district we had to make a choice and after the school year, I would say that we are absolutely impressed. This school has the perfect environment , amazing staff and great teachers. We are glad to be a part of SFA family.

My 6 year old loves SFA! In the beginning I felt it was just a regular school that allows prayer and teaches religion. It wasn't until after I joined a moms group in Orange County and met several moms with 6 year old daughters, that I was AMAZED with SFA! With these moms, I would have get togethers and our girls would work on their homework. Two of the girls went to public school and my daughter and another went to private. To make a long story short my daughter was helping the other girls with their work and reading books to them to pass time. My daughter was a prek graduate of Tutor Time and began Kindergarten without knowing how to pronounce or spell or anything. Now she is in 1st grade and reading over 3rd grade level. I'm no super mom, I don't sit with her and read to her like I should, but with 2 other ittle one's its hard to draw attention to only one. I believe from the dedication of teachers and staff at SFA, they truly tought her all she knows. Honestly, I really had no idea how much she progressed until we exposed her to other children her age from other schools, both private and public. I was truly impressed and grateful to SFA and so proud of my daughter.

We are a family of four kids and have been a part of the St. Francis family for 7 years. We continue to feel blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing community. The teachers are super involved and give the children the attention that is expected in a small classroom setting. They are a fine example of how to live a faith filled life on a daily basis. I truly feel that being at this school has given my husband, children and I the grand opportunity to meet an over whelming amount of beautiful people committed to raising their children to excel morally and academically.

My granddaughter loves this school. She is in kindergarten and the teacher is very attentive to her needs. The classes are small enough so that there is good interaction between the child and teacher and there is also a teacher's aide in the class as well. It is a pleasure to wake her up in the morning and have her excited because it is a school day.

St. Francis of Assisi Yorba Linda is a wonderful faith based, community oriented, academically sound place of learning. The campus is beautiful and the teachers, staff and parents are terrific. My two children started at SFA four years ago when we moved west from New Jersey. Having been the Kindergarten teacher in the Catholic school we moved from, my standards for excellence in education were high. My family has never looked back. SFA has succeeded in surpassing our academic expectations as well as deepening our Catholic values. If you are searching for a school campus where respect and an appreciation for learning are obvious in both the students and the teachers, you need to enroll your child now. My daughter just began her freshman year at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. She is taking all honors classes because she did that well on her high school placement test. Santa Margarita is one of the most renowned college prep schools in California. We are deeply proud that Saint Francis of Assisi School in Yorba Linda more than prepared our daughter for the next phase of her education.

Based on my experience as a Catholic school educator and parent I can say with great enthusiasm and conviction that St. Francis of Assisi is an excellent school. The school posseses everything you expect - dedicated and talented staff, strong academic and extra-curricular programs, great facilities, and committed parents, but the distinguishing characteristic is the sense of community based on Gospel values. Children develop their God-given talents in a nurturing, faith baised community that promotes the education of the WHOLE person - mind, body, and soul. It is an blessing to be part of this wonderful school.

My family and I have been blessed to involved with St. Francis School and Community for the past 10 years. The Community is made up of the students, parents, faculty, administration, staff, priests and supporting parishes. The beauty of the school location and campus is only outdone by the outstanding people that make this community such a special place to be involved with on a day-to-day basis. There is something magical when a community of people get together and support the ideals and values of Catholic education. They not only support it, but live it through their actions and set wonderful role-model examples for the students. Our 2 children have truly benefited from the wonderful and dedicated faculty who teach out of passion, love and commitment - certainly not for the money. The curriculum is first-rate, challenging and diverse to prepare these students to be successful through their academic, professional and life careers. I know that once a family makes a commitment to St. Francis, they will reap the benefits for life! Come in see the campus and the school in action - seeing is believing and in this case I trust you will not be disappointed.

My 7th grader started at St. Francis when she was in kindergarten. She has grown in academics, athletics, confidence, and faith. She is in advanced math so will be in honors math in high school. She has played sports year-round, including volleyball, basketball, and softball on the school teams with great sports tradition at the school. She was in student council and benefitted from that leadership experience and plans to run for office again. She was in the Junior High Honor Choir, selected by the music teacher, and performed with the Mater Dei High School choir at the Segerstrom Concert Hall. She's been on great field trips including Outdoor Education in Big Bear, and Orange County Marine Institute in Dana Point for overnight trips. The message at the school is service to our community, and she has volunteered at the Catholic Worker for the homeless; with the Relay For Life of Yorba Linda; with the Yorba Linda Library reading to pre-schoolers, and collecting toys for "Spencer's Treasures" toybox at St. Joseph Hospital. She will be ready for high school socially, academically, and spiritually. And I've enjoyed being a parent volunteer with sports, classroom, and trips.

Other activities are plentiful. The community is great, too - fellow parents are wonderful.

St Francis of Assisi - a great school academically with a very caring and qualified staff. Has many extracurricular activities for students with varied interests from sports to chess to drawing to Spanish and so on. It also has club that support the curriculum like Math club and Science club that spur on those with desire to learn more and help those needing a little more review and assistance. Most important is that the children, staff and parents can speak about God, pray and that spiritual development and responsible moral behavior is nurtured throughout each day. There are events for parents and the family to encourage their growth in faith as well. What a blessing to find a place that promotes growth in the family and in creating a well-rounded individual!

I just went on an overnight field trip with my son and his middle school. Being with these kids day and night for 24 hours, I really got to see why we love SFA so much. These seventh graders are truly friends. They respect one another and help each other. They listen to one another, share ideas openly, and learn from both the teachers and each other. The teachers are patient, knowledgeable, and understanding. What a joy it was to spend time with these young SFA men and women!

We switched to St. Francis from our local public school this year. It was the best decision we could have made for our son. He is thriving in a loving, academically challenging and organized environment. I love everything about this school from how well it is run to his nurturing and personable teacher. The stress and personality changes he experienced in the public school due to an over-crowded and chaotic environment literally vanished from day one at St. Francis. It has been a remarkable experience. Furtermore, he is gaining so much spiritually at school and enjoys the faith-based curriculum and caring environment it creates. We absolutely love St. Francis of Assisi school!

We are so happy we chose this school for our two boys, 8 and 12 years old. We moved to the area 4 years ago and researched the best place for Catholic education. St. Francis was it! The teachers are are genuinely concerned for the whole student-- emotionally, academically, spiritually. Our boys are learning to be good citizens, caring and respectful of others, and embracing a love for their classmates, school, and community. SFA's test scores speak for themselves. Ask and you will find out how strong their academics are. SFA students enter high school with honors and are accepted to the schools of their choice. Even our younger student is reading 3 grades higher than his grade level! By far, most importantly, my children becoming well rounded, balanced, mature young men whose decision making is based in faith in God. Can't ask for anything more. Thank you SFA teachers for making it happen!

We have searched far and wide for an orange county private school that met the academic, emotional and spiritual needs of our daughter and St. Francis of Assisi is it! This is our 2nd yr at the school and we plan to enroll all our kids when they come of age. Their pre-k program is top-notch! SFA strikes a perfect balance between academics and play-based learning. By the time my daughter got to Kinder, she could write and knew the sounds of all her letters, could identify numbers to 20 and even could identify all her shapes and color words! I was impressed! Not only that, the teachers really help the children work through their emotions so that this isn't a hinderance to learning once they reach kinder. As for the other grades. I have observed a lot of creative projects being done, including a science fair and academic decathlon. The children are all so kind and courteous, not only to their peers but also to the faculty and parents. This is a heavily involved community of parents and I think that is stellar! There are many social events throughout the year that bring the entire community of families together, I highly recommend SFA.

We highly recommend St. Francis to any family searching for a more personal, faith based education and academic excellence. As parents always trying to do what is best for our children, this was one of the best, and easiest, decisions we have made. When we moved to Orange County, we thought about sending our children to one of the highly-rated public schools to save money but after we took a tour of St. Francis we knew we found our school & home. Our oldest daughter is in 1st grade and enjoys a faith based education with a very loving and caring staff. And, we as a family belong to a community of loving & caring families that you just don't find these days. Our new principal has already made a positive impact on us. He sincerely listens to parents concerns/suggestions and doesn't just discard ideas. He truly believes in a principal/parent partnership and his dedication to making St. Francis an even better school than it already is, is apparent in everything he does. Yes we do have to pay tuition and we make a few sacrifices here and there but we can't imagine sending our child (soon to be 2 children) to any other school than St. Francis of Assisi!

I love St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Elementary School! This is our 11th year at the school and have had two kids graduate from it. My high schoolers were well prepared for high school and both qualified to be in all honors classes in their freshman year at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. I still have 2 kids at SFA and both are doing well academically, spiritually, and socially. SFA is filled with wonderful families, excellent students, fantastic teachers, and an incredible Administration. Its new principal brings with him 30+ years of experience in Catholic education including being a principal of an excellent high school in South County (JSerra HS). I highly recommend St. Francis to any family looking for a faith-filled, wholesome, and excellent school for their pre-kindergarteners (including toddlers) to 8th graders!

My experiences at Saint Francis of Assisi School Catholic School in Yorba Linda have been outstanding. It is a warm, caring community of faith-filled parents, faculty and children where I feel confident that my children are receiving an outstanding education. This is our fourth year at the school and our experience just keeps getting better. The teachers are OUTSTANDING. They truly care about the whole child are very tuned in to the individual needs and personalities of each child. For example, there was a time in Kingergarten when my son came home and expressed concern about something that had happened in class. By the time he shared the story it was Sunday, so I emailed the teacher and asked to meet with her the following week. I got an email back within the hour! She explained exactly what had happened and how it was handled. Her strategy was perfect, and I could tell she truly knew my son's personality, and they had only been in school a month. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that I would highly recommend St. Franics and I welcome you to contact me at kward@meritpm.com if you would like me to answer any questions you may have.

This is our fourth year at this school and we couldn't be more happy to be sending our three children there. The faith-based education that the school offers is top-notch and is so essential in today's world. The academics are great, and the teachers are a wonderful group of educators that sincerely care for the children. Parent involvement is evident through out the campus, and is a huge part of why the school is so successful. The school is worth every penny; but then again, you can't put a price tag on the value of a great education, moral foundation, and life-long faith formation. If you are looking for a school that has all this and more, you'll find it at St. Francis....

We had our kids there since K, but we just took our children after 4 years due to poor school management and lack of teacher-parent communication. The school went through two principals and the teachers have no direction. It is too bad the school is not run properly. They care more about discipline than eduation. I would expect more from a Catholic Faith school.

Poor administration. Teachers care. Kids Learn. BUT: Leadership is lacking at this school. Experience with some teaching staff and administrators was extremely unprofessional. A small school like this one doesn't afford much choice when teachers aren't meeting your child's needs. And the principal is doing very little.

I have to disagree with the reviewer who posted July 3, 2009 stating '...little girls who have beautiful handwriting...'. That is hardly their focus (coming from a parent of a girl with less than beautiful handwriting, but the most spiritual child with a great heart and compassion for others. We have been at St. Francis for 6 years now and have witnessed first hand the spiritual growth of our children with the help of the St. Francis teachers. Go see for yourself. Take a tour of the classrooms, ask questions. The area is filled with public schools that will provide a decent education, but only at a Catholic school such as St. Francis will you get the education AND Catholic doctrine. Our kids have the ability to reinforce their faith all day long while at school, not just at home and one hour on Sunday. Worth every penny.

St. Francis is a good school. I have been a parent for 12 years at this school and have seen my older children excel and move on to top universities. The Jr. high teachers are amazing and care so much that my children were very ready for the rigorous Catholic High school education

I am disappointed that the teaching of Catholic doctrine and reinforcing faith is less important than cultivating the 'perfect' student, such as little girls who have beautiful handwriting and write expressive flowing paragraphs. Don't send your boys.

Leadership is lacking at this school and the teaching my child received was very uneven. Personal experience with some teaching staff and administrators was extremely unprofessional. A small school like this one doesn't afford much choice when teachers aren't meeting your child's needs. And the principal is doing very little to weed out those teachers who are just 'biding their time,' while they waste the precious time of the students they are trained professionally to serve and inspire. I live within walking distance to this school, but decided to enrol my children in another catholic school 30 minutes away by car.

This school is incredible! I have never seen more dedicated, hard-working teachers anywhere. I've been in the education field for some time, and I would highly recommend this school to anyone. Each student is looked at as an individual and is treated as such. The cherry on the top, is the Catholic education which is taught in a Christ-like community environment.

I think the teachers are wonderful and the administration shows great leadership and a strong sense of good judgment. You can see that the children well being is the focus of Mrs. Vallas decisions. The parent community can be difficult but she provides a caring ear while maintaining integrity and a high moral and academic standard. The administration is very supportive of their teachers and gives great priority and respect to their needs and to helping them in what they need to do for the students. The teachers provide an excellent and quality education and I am happy to be a supporter of the school.

Good teachers. Poor adminstration. The administration does not support the teachers and tends to kowtow to the whims of the parents.

This schools is absolutely wonderful. The preople are frantastic, from the teachers to the students. The educational program is above average. Parents are welcome at anytime to help out. We were attending another private school in the area for 5 years and my children are so much happier now.

I think that some of the parents that made St. Francis seem like a low quality school are highly mistaken. I have been going to St. Francis for quite some time now, and I am extremely impressed with its overall quality. I look forward to the years ahead and much success, because I know that I can certainly achieve it here at this school. It has an excellent catholic education as well as the academic program. I hope this has helped and will urge you to send your children to an exellent school such as this.

Good religion program. Lots of extra curriculum. Teachers are helpful, willing to tutor during lunch and after school, and are committed to teaching.

I am not impressed with this brand new school. Alot of show without results. I do not like that the school does not provide any tutoring for our children. Ours are 7,9,10 years old. I feel if they are tutored from the same teacher or people they entrust is a much more successful end result. Not an outside source like Drake or Sylvan. I hope we can all work together as we are so blessed.

A relatively new school, only several years old. The teachers are excellent and dedicated. My son has flourished at this school and enjoys going there. It is a catholic school and requires that you are registered and actively supporting one of three parishes in the community. Overall parent involvement / support is high which translates to respectful children. The number of children in the classroom is relatively high (~30) but they all have a teacher's aid at least half the time. All in all we really like the school but are moving from the area and will be leaving next year. Our son has attended pre -1st grade there.
