Friends Christian

I have 2 children currently enrolled in the FCS system, (one at the Lakeview campus and one at the Rose Drive campus) and couldn't be more pleased with the challenging curriculum, positive and safe environment, encouraging and supportive faculty & staff and involved administration. I feel truly blessed that the Lord led our family to this amazing school. I am impressed with the "Meet the Masters" program, which teaches students about all kinds of art, such as Impressionism, along with detailed biographies about the artists...in fact, I often learn quite a bit about artists such as Matisse, Renoir, Kahlo, Monet, Picasso, Degas, and countless more through my children, which makes me a very proud parent! Not only do I appreciate the wonderfully eclectic and stimulating courses offered at FCS; but more importantly, the Christian curriculum goes beyond Bible classes and chapel, it is displayed through the teachers, who genuinely love to teach and strive to help the students succeed and to learn more about what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, students are taught to respect one another, help and encourage each other; open communication is key! Love FCS!

I was very disappointed when I read the mission statement for this school. Their mission statement states that this school is against homosexuality and believes it is wrong. I found this very offensive and not very friendly. I do not believe this is something that needs to be taught to my elementary school child. I noticed they didn't include anything about divorce being wrong. Maybe because this could actually apply to their parents.

My son is having a great experience, both spiritually and academically at Friends Middle School. He has attended since 1st grade and is now in 7th. Very well rounded and caring staff.

My son graduated from friends christian middle school and just started High School. It was the best decision i have ever made to send him to FCMS.

Our son has been attending Friends Christian since the 4-year old program. The administration and teachers are very caring. The curriculum is very strong and beyond what is taught in the public schools. Friends continues to stay very current on CA standards in order that their students are more than prepared for the higher grades. Each teacher has been well-qualified and skilled in their instruction. The current middle school teachers are amazing as well. It is so evident that they love what they do. We only wish that the future Friends Christian High School would be ready in '08 and be able to offer plenty of opportunities competitive to the surrounding high quality schools. We would recommend Friends Christian to anyone desiring a high quality education with a biblically sound emphasis.

My son has gone to Friends Christian Preschool for two years and we find the school to be exceptional. They provide an incredibly balanced educational program based on a christian foundation.

We are extremely happy with FCS. Our child is currently 2 reading levels above her grade, and has tested above average in most subjects. There are weekly lessons, and outsourcing, in music, computer, field trips, and art history in the lower elementary grades. Parent involvement is very high compared to what I have seen in other schools. We are extremely happy with FCS curriculum, teachers, and administration. (Coming from a current teacher in a public school.)

I have three children who have been attending Friends Christian since they were each three years old - my oldest child is 14. We have always been impressed with the academic state test scores - resource help is availabe for children with learning issues, as well. In the last two years, Friends has re-vamped their Science, Math & Art programs, adding Honors Math and a more comprehensive Science program that begins in first grade and keeps the school current with public school programs. Weekly character traits are emphasized the entire school year. This contributes towards a more well-rounded, respectful child. The school does not cater to a specific religion - weekly bible verses and lesson plans are Bible-based (typically NIV version). There is a new art program for all grades, Honor Choir, and extracurricular sports at the Middle School level. Any type of parent involvement is welcomed and appreciated!
