Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

A super school, an excellent principal and wonderful teachers. Tons of students creating a big job for the administration.

I feel that Butte Vista school has a very bad reputation in changing teachers every year. They really need to retain there staff in the upper grades for support of the children . The children in the upper grades need more ellectives. Class size is to big in the upper grades. The kids suffer from to many kids in one small area. This really needs attention. I am really concidering moving my children to another school , when they reach 6 th grade. I hope these changes happen the year 2010.

Best school in the district, lots of parent involvement (could always use more, of course), and parents have a lot of say in which teachers their children get. Lots of help for special ed and special needs students. Just wish there was more shade, but that's what happens with a new school with small trees.

This is an excellent school that is not only family oriented but they care deeply about our children and their education.

this school was never planned right from the get go. It could be a great k-6 but a k-8 is way overcrowded and the chidren don't get enough electives. Classrooms are small for some of the science wing classes, not made for 35-40 kids per class!.we moved our child, so that they could get a better education.

We moved here just before this school year began. My daughter is in kindergarten. So far I have been impressed with Butte Vista. Traffic is an issue, but the administration is working to minimize the problem. Just as in every school, public or private, parent involvement makes all the difference. I have attended all the Parent Club meetings; there are some very dedicated parents working to make BV a great school. The principal seems professional and is tuned in to what parents, students, and teachers need for support. Problems inherent in all schools, state- and nationwide, such as lack of music teachers, should not be blamed on BV itself. Parents need to realize that they have the power to make things better! Teachers and administrators have their hands tied by state/national limitations. My daughter loves BV, her classmates and teacher, and I look forward to her siblings going there.

Butte Vista suffers from poor urban planning around the campus. Yuba City does not support crossing guards at Stabler Lane. My son is a fun, intelligent kid who can't seem to get any peer respect or attention unless he cusses or bullies other kids. The school admittedly has a problem with this but can't seem to figure out how to address it. As a musician with a child musician, the music and arts programming at Butte Vista (and the rest of the school district)is horrid. One music teacher spread between several schools. No arts. If you want your kid to learn English and Math and that's it, this is the school for you. We're moving.

My husband and I just moved to the area and we were very nervous about our children having to change schools but we have been so blessed first of all the whole experience of enrolling our children was so smooth the office ladies were so sweet and caring which we appreciated so greatly secondly the teachers are amazing they were so welcoming and made our children feel comfortable from the first day. We are very happy with the school as a whole. Thanks so much Butte Vista!

So far, I'm not impressed with the teachers so far. We transferred over from a private school and are finding that the curriculum here at Butte Vista is dumbed down. Another issue for other parents to consider are the number of children being bussed into Butte Vista. The school is overpopulated and very noisy; to small children it is quite overwhelming.

Great school for kids with special needs.

I my opinion for children with special needs this is not the school. For the last four years my son has been in attendence with this school and they are not addressing his special needs but their own. Their special education program is not geared for each seperate student but as a whole. This does not benefit anyone. I must admit that this new teacher is excellent but her first year at Butte Vista. If not for her I woulod have taken him out. As it is I am presently looking for new school, new location to move and get him what he needs.

I have been very disappointed with the classroom attention, general atmosphere in and out of class, thd difficulty of dropping off and picking up my child, and the direction of this shcool since they moved from the old campus in the last two years. I have a 6th grader there and chose to enroll my kindergartener in a charter shcool. New leadership is needed.

Both of my children have attended this school since moving into the area three years ago. I feel we have been very lucky in that they have both been fortunate to have very caring and involved teachers thus far.

I have three daughters who attended school at Butte Vista. The teachers were very good and I would recomend this school to anyone. API scores are only one indication of school performance. Butte Vista has great parent participation and that is more important than any test score.
