Terrible Administration. Discrimination is abundant. I've heard too many stories of unfair discipline. The same story every time is where bullies don't get in trouble and the student defended his/herself gets suspended
The teachers are great but the administrators are awful. They discriminate against certain students. Our son, who happens to have Asperger's, was being bullied. Another student was threatening him and pushing him. Our son was trying to ignore him. The bully them grabbed him, put him in a choke hold, and took him to the ground. Our son pushed him away. This all happened while 2 adults were nearby. The end results was our son getting suspended for 3 and a half days and nothing was done to the bully. Apparently when a bully is related to a staff member they won't get in trouble.
The Vice Principal is a useless man. He laughs about situations like this and won't give us documentation of the incident. Talking to the Principal does no good either. We personally know of 3 other incidents where very similar situations happened and the end result was the victims being punished and the instigators and bullies were not disciplined at all.
We've also requested IEP programs for our son several times and they refuse to do it.
This would be a great school if the Administrators were replaced. It's a very sad situation. Needless to say, we pulled our child out of this school.
I think butte vista is a wonderful school all the teacher are really lovely,, Also butte vista has a wonderful after school program all the employees in the after school programs are really wonderful,, they all help our kids,,
I feel that Butte Vista school has a very bad reputation in changing teachers every year. They really need to retain there staff in the upper grades for support of the children . The children in the upper grades need more ellectives. Class size is to big in the upper grades. The kids suffer from to many kids in one small area. This really needs attention. I am really concidering moving my children to another school , when they reach 6 th grade. I hope these changes happen the year 2010.
Best school in the district, lots of parent involvement (could always use more, of course), and parents have a lot of say in which teachers their children get. Lots of help for special ed and special needs students. Just wish there was more shade, but that's what happens with a new school with small trees.
this school was never planned right from the get go. It could be a great k-6 but a k-8 is way overcrowded and the chidren don't get enough electives. Classrooms are small for some of the science wing classes, not made for 35-40 kids per class!.we moved our child, so that they could get a better education.
