adequate yearly progress: This is a term used as part of the federal No Child Left Behind law. All schools that receive federal Title I funds must demonstrate that the school is making progress in achieving proficiency on state learning standards in reading and math for all groups of students(including economically disadvantaged students, racial/ethnic groups, disabled students and limited English proficient students. Schools that do not show progress over consecutive years face consequences.
