- Parents and community members are highly involved in our school. All of the students' independent projects encourage input from the parents at the beginning and end.
Parents offer special-topic classes inside and outside of the school day. Parents have helped organize the school choir and art events, as well as international travel study plans.

- Avalon School does not have a Principal. We are run by a teacher cooperative, so all staff members are involved in all major decisions about the school. The staff strongly believes in this democratic process, and we consistently model it for the students as well.
