Dress code Dress code: DRESS AND GROOMING • Students are asked to use good judgment in choosing appropriate attire. However, since research indicates that student dress often sets the pattern for classroom behavior, we do expect that you look neat, that your hair is combed, and that you do not wear garments so revealing or in such a state of disrepair as to be a distraction. Clothing displaying obscenities, a drug or alcohol design is inappropriate. If any clothing is deemed offensive by the principal or other school official, the student must change that clothing at the principals request. Tardies or unexcused absences may be issued if a student misses class time to change clothes. State law requires that shoes must be worn. • Students are not allowed to wear jackets or coats in the classroom. Classrooms are set at a comfortable temperature for all students. If a student finds a classroom too cold, then he/she should wear appropriate clothing (not coats or jackets) to allow for the classroom temperature. No coats or jackets will be worn to class during the school day unless the principal grants special permission. • Shorts may be worn only in the months of August, September and May if they are appropriate in length (arm length). Biker shorts may be worn under another pair of shorts only. • In keeping with today’s styles, girls may wear the capris and gouches throughout the school year. • Wearing caps, hats, headbands, hoods, etc. are not allowed in the building during school hours. This includes coming and going from school. • Pants are to be worn pulled up to the normal waist. • Clothing that is torn, tattered or with holes are not acceptable.
