Partnership Brings Millions of Moms Educational Resources
and Opportunities to Connect
SAN FRANCISCO, CA/NEW YORK, NY - February 19, 2009 - In an alliance that could benefit millions of parents looking for information about where to send their children to school, GreatSchools and CafeMom today announced a strategic partnership that will enable parents to find the right school. As part of the partnership, CafeMom will promote the GreatSchools "Guide to Choosing the Right School" to the millions of parents on the CafeMom site.
GreatSchools, an independent, nonprofit organization empowering and inspiring parents to participate in their children's education, and CafeMom, the premier online social network for mothers, will use the strength of their combined, targeted reach to provide/offer parents extensive guidance and school information to find a school best suited to their children's needs.
"We are laser-focused on providing parents with the information they need to choose a school," says Bill Jackson, founder and president of GreatSchools. "CafeMom is a great partner in this cause. They help us reach decision makers in a child's education - moms throughout the country - who need resources to make their school choice decision less stressful and time-consuming."
Today's announcement comes on the heels of a GreatSchools/BusinessWeek initiative aimed at identifying the top performing high schools in the country. GreatSchools also recently announced $20 million in funding from leading education foundations and expanded its core service by making preschool information available to its parents.
"As the largest online community for moms, CafeMom is always looking to help moms find the advice and support they need, and choosing a school for their children is a major decision," says Michael Sanchez, CafeMom CEO. "We are proud to share the resources GreatSchools offers on schools and education with the CafeMom community."
As part of the partnership, GreatSchools has joined the CafeMom Plus Ad Network, CafeMom's new network of high-quality Web sites that reach complementary audiences, and doubled CafeMom's audience reach for advertisers.
