This school is awful. My son has had nothing but problems with teachers and administrators since day 1. He was excited to start middle school and it has turned into a nightmare with children spreading rumors that administration refuses to address. Their policy, at least with my kid, is guily until proven innocent and then will be treated suspiciously. My child is a straight A student and comes home daily sad about something else they did. There is no consistency in rules or grading policies and I have had a terrible time getting information from teachers about their policies and assignment info. My husband and I are currently seeking other schools in the area so my child can go back to happy and successful.

This school is very unsatisying... I was once a student here and by my own experience the teachers are so unprepared, the supplies is very limited, theres to much bullying, there is not very many electives, you can get in trouble even with the proof of your innocence... The food program is also terrible because most of the food is small and does not satisfy your hunger needs... The worst part was that in the classes you never learned anything! These teachers were to into having fun, so they didnt get trhough the full curriculum in turn causing the student's C-sap scores to be terrible!

While OMS is a good school, it is very difficult for the students to transition to eight classes a day. Eight classes a day also generally means at least a couple of hours of homework per night. It makes it difficult for our daughter to enjoy family time or the extra curricular activities she would like to be involved in. She strives to remain a straight 'A' student, but the stress of trying to keep up with eight classes is often overwhelming.

Our son attends 6th grade at OMS. He loves his teachers and is doing very well in all of his classes. He loves the variety of elective classes. We have been very pleased with the education he is getting!

We have been very pleased with the administration and staff at Ortega middle school. Our daughter has enjoyed 6th grade. I think the amount of discipline is good and that the children at OMS are being served well. While there have been adverse publicity in the past at OMS I believe the staff has turned things around dramatically.
