I'm Rob Malling, the new principal at Allendale. I had a few schools in Jeffco interested in interviewing me for a principal position and I turned some of them down. I was focused on leading Allendale after I learned what this school is all about and where they are headed. Allendale is a small neighborhood school that values their ability to connect with families and students, The school just celebrated their 50th anniversary and many community members came out to show their appreciation for this school. Teachers here want to work here and they aren't afraid to put in the extra hours to meet their students' needs. Student here like their school and realize that they need to work hard and listen to their teachers if they are going to improve. The staff put students first in their decisions and involve families in their child's education. This is a school where I would send my own children as I know they will be cared for and provided a rigorous education. Come by and check us out as we want our neighborhood families to attend their neighborhood school. I'll give you a tour and share all that is happening at our school. Thanks.
Allendale is doing it's best to give a well rounded education. It's a Title 1 school so it gets better funding because of the low income families. That disturbs me because from what I've seen it seems the lower income children don't do as well as the more fortunate kids. In my opinion that makes the testing scores go down. I feel the teachers & other staff are truly doing their best to give each child a very good education. Ms. Harrington, the principal is the most passionate principal I've ever dealt with. She truly cares about the students & staff. I think Allendale will become better with her at the helm. Again, it's not the staff's fault for low testing (which is getting better). Dealing with the less unfortunate students is what's hurting the school. I hope that bridge can be gapped soon. And I feel it will soon. passionate principal I've ever dealt with. I had 2 older kids that went there & now my youngest.
The school appears to want to be trying to strive to be the best. Really they are a dirty, poor poverty stricken school, with overly paid teachers working not in the best interest of the childen. I give this school 3 stars.
Staff's commitment to excellence is wonderful for all students. Teachers are consistently tested by the schools diversity, and SES of families. Any student who attends this school will receive a wonderful education from any of the schools dedicated and caring staff.
I have 2 children at Allendale. While our CSAP results are not the highest, they have continued to increase. Our school reflects many different ethnic backgrounds and this provides an opportunity for understanding diversity. Our staff is dedicated to the students' well-rounded education, and this isn't reflected in numbers or tests.
