AES is an outstanding school. Our experience with 2 children one in Kindergarten & one in Second grade has been amazing. We were new to the school last year and have been very impressed with the teachers, technology, & staff.
My child loved his/her kindergarten teacher, but his/her first grade teacher has let him/her slip through the cracks. This teacher does not give him/her enough instruction and does not manage the class well. I've walked in on pandemonium in the class room more than once and seen this teacher continually fail to reprimand bad behavior in the other students. I've also seen this teacher's whole class running across the highway with only the teacher and one other adult. I feel like AES has really let me and my child down this year. I expected more from a school with such a high rating.
This is a wonderful school. Anyone wondering if they should send their kids here need not wonder anymore! I have a 3rd grader and a Kindergartner. We are probably moving next year and will miss AES immensely.
Fabulous school with many caring and highly qualified staff. They focus on the whole child and offer every extracurricular imaginable. Parents are a constant source of added support. The classrooms are cheerful the building and campus first rate.
My daughter absolutly loves her kindergarten teacher. She adores the principal and comes home with wonderful antecdotes daily. I am impressed with the staff and demeanor.
AES is a progressive school with diverse students and many strong teachers. The class sizes are surprisingly small, with rarely over 20 in a class. There has been turnover in the principal position recently, primarily due to strong parental influence and 'over-involvement' in some cases. The outdoor education is amazing, with cross country skiing, hiking and overnight trips a regular part of the year's experience. Weak areas, in my opinion, include the music program and gifted and talented programs (very limited). The faculty and administration are very caring and supportive.
I worked in Aspen Elementary for a short time, but in that time I saw some amazing things. The quality of their academic programs was great. They really try to boost learning in all areas, not just one or two. They have great availability of extracurricular activities, including one called Nature that is a combination of art and outdoor studies. The kids just soak up the information like sponges, and they really love it. The parents are very involved too. We had parent volunteers in our classroom at least one per day. I would definitely recommend this school.
This school is a dream come true for us. My child's 1st grade teacher is so caring, upbeat and very active in making sure her student's are well taken care of. This school strives for excellence in their student's and helps them get there. Thank you Aspen Elementary!
