Gone are the warm teachers replaced by subpar ones, Middle school math suffered with a poor teacher that effected alumni's math scores leaving them unable to advance into A.P classes. Students learned more about planning a wedding. The new math teacher is a step in the right direction. The budget cuts were too deep and the students suffered the hits. The aesthetics of the school have improved greatly but the high standards of past teachers are gone. Student teacher ratio of near 30 students slows grading and parent/teacher communication also suffers. Changes are needed to return some goodness and kindness with less disciple. The school has become more military. The children are loving and giving as a result of religion ed. and weekly mass. The school presents well but look closely at the children's faces during instruction. Gone are many of the smiles replaced by stressed unhappy, overly controlled children unable to spread their wings unless they ask permission. Teachers are tired and overworked. Special/gifted program, qualified exceptional teachers are more important than a upgraded library that's used for 10 minutes a week, and a upgraded playground, new carpet, and P.A. System.

Great school. Very impressed with the teachers and students there. The older kids are always very helpful with the younger students. Students are also very close to one another grade/age difference doesn't matter.

Our kids love St. Pius and look forward to attending school every day. The emphasis on character development, technology and academics makes this school worth the tuition. Unlike most public schools, there is no tolerance for unacceptable behavior--leaving more teaching time. This is evident in the way the students treat their teachers, their school, and each other. We feel this is a top notch faith based school.

We have been at this school for years and it is no longer the school it once was. They have purged some really good teachers and kept some really mediocre ones. The classroom size is now as big or bigger than a public school averaging a 27 to 1 ratio and it shows in the students and the teacher stress level. We chose private school to try and avoid this crowded classroom situation, but yet here we are. My friends with students in Douglas county schools have a better student to teacher ratio and have a more challenging cirriculum. It's just sad what this school as become. If it were to revert back, I'd be more than willing to pay more in tuition.

The staff members at St. Pius are friendly, communicative and accessible. We have(2) kids at St. Pius X (Pre-K and 1st grade), and they both LOVE going to school each day. I can't recommend this school enough to those looking for a superior curriculum, infused with christian/bible studies, in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic church.

Our kids have been enrolled at St. Pius X since the beginning of this school year, and we couldn't be more impressed! Not only is the intellectual course of study right on track at this school, but the curriculum also emphasizes the importance of loving and serving thy neighbor. Food Drives, fundraisers, etc.demonstrate the power of benevolent giving and caring. The campus atmosphere is cordial and caring, and we love that the kid's will have access to many extra-curricular activities once they get older. We use their after school day care services, and that time is utilized for homework first, under the supervision of the program's personnel. This takes a huge burden off of me...having everything already completed for the next day.

Wow- this school is amazing! The teachers and staff are wonderful and set high standards for the students while being very nurturing and supportive. I cannot say enough good things about the principal, staff and teachers. It is well worth the money and then some:)

I am a proud St. Pius parent. Having graduated from one of the top independent private/college prep schools in the United States, I can tell you my child is receiving as superior of a primary education as I received. What makes St. Pius stand out, however, are the morals and character that St. Pius is also bestowing in St. Pius students and the principal, who has lead the efforts since 2008. He is a fair and dynamic administrator and has brought St. Pius into its own future with technology and vision. The only way we would ever leave St. Pius is if we were facing a career move out of state.

We have attended St. Pius for 7 years going into the 8th, I love it here and was considering changing due to a learning issue with my child. They have helped us with this issue so that we can continue on with the high quality of education and the strict foundation we require. I would highly recommend St.Pius to parents that want to extend home morals and values.

Both of my children attend this school. The teachers are outstanding with a solid focus on education and discipline. The school also advocates the importance of service, with the children being involved in activities that support the needs of the local community as well as the global. My son's class recently held a book drive for a school in Rwanda. The principal has made many changes to improve the technology as well as the environment. I agree with another reviewer that there were administration issues but that no longer exists due to changes in administrative staff. I highly recommend this school.

I've attended St. Pius for about 8 years and recently graduated. Each year the school gets better, and better. It is equipped with a great staff. They're always there to help the students with whatever we need. It's also a great disciplinary school. They do not tolerate disrespect. What I like most about St. Pius is the students. Each class has an amazing personality. Improvements to the school are always being made. The school has the latest technology (smart boards, flat screen computers, and laptops for the teachers). It's an excellent school, and will prepare your children academiclly, socially, and physically.

An excellent school with technology use throughout the curriculum, specifically Smart board technology. The teachers are dedicated and many of them have been with the school for over 10 years. The chillren are loved and loved, with high expectations throughout.

Both of my children are products of this great school. Within this school, the students receive a very rigorous academic curriculum, taught in a loving and caring environment. With a new principal on board this school year, and his vision of enhancing the technology throughout the school, I can only see greater things happening. St. Pius X School is well on its way to being the premier school in the Aurora area.

I am disappointed at this school after attending for a few years and am looking for a better fit for my children elsewhere. This school has had 2 principals in 3 years and is currently seeking a new principal. Administration issues with respect towards parents is a big problem. School disontinued its music program 4 years ago and hasn't brought it back. Make sure you do your research before deciding on this school. Low tuition isn't always a good thing. You get what you pay for. The problems with this school administratively are overshadowing the great teachers and academic environment and it's starting to show.

A great school that instills firm morals and values and incorporates the teachings of the Catholic Church into it's curriculum. My child loves St Pius X and wakes up excited to go to school every day! The school backs up it's expectations of the children and does not tolerate the unacceptable behavior that is becoming the norm in public schools. The teachers are not afraid to discipline yet treat the children with the respect and kindness that they deserve as a result of the children learning and being required to EARN that respect. All children should be so lucky to go to St Pius X, and the world would be a better place if public schools were this strong in character and teachings!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
