Hinkley High School has the potential to be an absolutely fabulous school. The students who attend this school are absolutely fantastic and the cultural divsity is celebrated by all who attend, including staff. The athletics programs are gaining in their level of competitiveness and respect, with hard working coaches and establishing summer strength/conditioning programs to help gain interested and dedication in our sports programs. The arts department produces outstanding performances in choir, drama and marching band. Teachers and councelors at Hinkley genuinely have a passion for seeing students succeed and extend opportunities for students to get post-secondary education. Teachers are often found well beyond their duty day in their classroom helping tutor students with their work.
According to the Denver Foundation, Hinkley is a beacon of hope in the north metro area. Hinkley offers IB programs and other pathways to help students find a direction in life. Hinkley offers the IB Biomedical Sciences pathway, Audio-Visual Pathway, Business Pathway, Marketing Pathway and Performing Arts Pathway. Additionally, Hinkley has more concurrent enrollment classes offered for dual credit at high school and college than any other school in Aurora. Hinkley has a partnership with CSU and CCA. Students who attend Hinkley and qualify to attend CSU automatically qualify for a minimum of $2500 per year scholarships. Hinkley is working hard to make a difference for the community.
I'm an alumni and my two word description of Hinkley is; terrible school. This school thrives on conformity. If you're even a little bit different from the herd of sheep that populate this school. You're seen as a freak, loser, and have people tell you, "you deserve to die". Teacher's are no better then the students as they encourage the student body to outcast the "different" people. Sure, many may say this is a part of the highschool experience. But this school takes that experience to a whole new level. Aside from that, the level of education you'll get is below average. They try to disguise their incompetence of teaching by saying. "Look at us, we're in IB school." As if the only thing that makes them a "good" school is the fact they have IB. Yet, they don't even compare to Cherry Creek schools without IB. Overall, the student body is nothing more then a herd of sheep, the teachers are no better then the students and the only thing their proud of is a sign that says "IB School" by their main entrance. If you're even considering putting your student in this school. Don't. You'll regret it.
Current and Proud student at Hinkley High School. Hinkley is very strong on the education front. IB classes are rigorous in preparation for college. Teachers are very supportive, and try new methods to teach things the students might need help on. There is no excuse at Hinkley that you did not understand anything because help is always given if you ask. The only problems at Hinkley High are budget cuts and athletics. For the most part athletics are pretty bad but is made up for by the Music department.
I love Hinkley because there's such a diverse group of students but there's not many problems. The students are mature, the teachers are amazing, and the school in general is really great!
Good academics and excellent marching band and music program.
Yo. Some people need to stop criticizing the school. I'm a current alumni there, and, to be frankly honest, it is the best school experience I have ever had. The teachers there are kind, willing to work with you, and fight for what is right. Although we're getting a new principal, the one we had previously was not bad. The education itself is stable, and works with most students. There's also more rigorous programs with AP and IB. We are a proud community. There is a difference in students who want to learn, and those who don't. It's not the teachers who completely influence the school, it's the students going there. And if you believe that it'll affect your kid, then you better teach them to fight peer pressure. C:
Great school the location is good and the teachers are mostly awesome some violence once in a while
This is a great school with diversity as one of its strong points. An IB school that has an environment expectation that everyone has to have a plan for after high school. My child is a well rounded person because of his experience at Hinkley
This was the worst school that I have ever been to. Most students have no determination to succeed and the teachers do not care enough about the students who want to succeed. I would not recommend this school to anyone who has thought about bringing their students to Hinkley
