We have had kids at CCA for 5 years now and have seen many changes. I am really excited for 2011-2012 school year. With minimal staff change and excellent Staff trainings I expect this year to be the best yet. The Special Education teacher has made a huge positive change school wide and her students are progressing by leaps and bounds, along with the positive progress of the gifted students. The school is so small that CSAP scores don't reflect the positive growth.
Unfortunately this once thriving school with so much promise has become a huge disappointment. There is little discipline in the classrooms, or even more surprisingly in the testing venues. The drastic drop in CSAP scores tell the story, CCA is now well below the Bennett Public school in practically every category. There have absolutely no improvements in the facilities, or the extracurricular programs. After 6 years, the kid's only option for recess is still kick-ball on a dirt lot! Shame on CCA for letting a great concept stagnate to the point of no return, but congrats on Bennett school for making great strides and becoming the school our kids deserve!
We had our son in in private school for 3 years, we did not want our son to be in the Bennett Public School which all I have heard is complaints from other parents and even have a very poor in gifted and talented program. This is a GREAT school and yes the teachers do expect the student to do their best, and their CSAP scores are far and above the Bennett Public Schools. However the teachers also expect the children to be kind to each other which is definately an important aspect I think. I don't know what we will do when our son graduates from CCA in 8th grade--I am already looking at other options. If you want your child to have a top rate education so that your child will excel then CCA is for you otherwise if you want an average child then pick Bennett Public School.
My daughter attended CCA for two years. We no longer attend here for two main reasons. 1. There was too much homework. An hour a night was the norm for Kindergarden and 1st grades. This is too much in my professional and personal opinion. 2. There are huge holes in her educations as it relates to phonics, spelling, and reading. She is behind her peers in these areas due to the holes, and she has had to work hard to overcome these unnecessary obstacles. She is excelling at Bennett Elementary though. I would not recommend CCA for the average student, though it may be okay for a GT student.
I am a parent of two and feel that the Academy is a great place to send your child. I would recommend this school to anyone who would be interested in sending there child here.
My kids have been attending this school for two years now. The whole place is one big family. Great class sizes and bullyproofing program. Teachers are first rate. Principal is best in the business.
Great school. Love the staff and the education my children get.
I have two children attendin Corridor Community Academy. I could not be happier. My children are learning and growing in a wonderful atmosphere. The teachers are dedicated and professional. Dr. Murphy is the principal, and she is amazing! I would recomend this school to anyone.
This is a top notch school! My kids are loving it and so am I. CCA offers a top notch education.
After a very poor experience with the Strasburg Elementary preschool program I enrolled my son in CCA for kindergarten. He is now in first grade. He is an accelerated leaner and the charter school is working well to meet his needs. Overall, I am very pleased with the education he is receiving.
