Calhan High School let TWO adults come into the school and meet with my two daughters. The TWO adults found out the school that my daughters attended from Facebook and drove two hours from Denver. The TWO adults didn't even know what my daughters looked like until the school pointed them out. The school policy failed to protect my children and let these TWO adults even sit in class with one of my daughters for over 15 minutes. Although vistor rules have changed (at our request do to safety concerns for all children) we feel that Calhan High School, El Paso County, & The State Of Colorado really failed us.
We are pleased with Calhan High School. The classes are smaller that urban schools and there are teachers who care. The counselor, Mr. Black, is wonderful in helping students choose the right college. The Tech Coordinator, Mrs. Gardner, guides and prepares students with helpful knowledge about where to obtain data sources and other helpful information in the use of the internet. Mr. MacKenzie is a super principal. He really cares for each and every high school student. A good school.
