It's a relatively small school with great parent and community involvement.
Everyone knows and looks out for one another. Students, parents, staff, community memebers all care deeply for each child's success.
I am an 'alumni' of Ute Pass Elementary. The foundation for all of my education was established there - where I acquired, and came to love, the discipline of learning itself.
I love the small class sizes. The 5th graders know the preschoolers and everyone looks out for each other. We are a true community school!
This school is a small, caring elementary school with a fantastic principal and a great staff.
Ute Pass Elementary has great teachers and a low student-teacher ratio. This year is its 40th anniversary, and the school held an alumni-sponsored celebration of the event. That shows how much people love the school! I went to Ute Pass Elementary the first year it opened as a 5th grader. My daughter attended Ute Pass Elementary, and my son is currently in second grade there. We love our teachers and are proud of our school's success!
UPE provides our children with a great learning environment, the teachers and staff are awesome.
Our school is in a small, rural area with little local resources to assist parents and students outside of the school environment. Knowing this, the school is very proactive in offering after school programs that successfully add to the overall education of the student. Appreciation of our beautiful mountain community is just one of the many ways the school effectively teaches our students about the importance of individual stewardship towards people and the environment in which we live.
Great teachers, great staff, a vital part of the community. I love the place.
I have had three children complete study at Ute Pass Elementary School and very successfully move on to Manitou Middle School. From my perspective, Ute Pass Elementary is unique in two main perspectives: 1) extra support provided to the students, and 2) parental involvement. This is a fairly small school, and the teachers, principal and administrators are extremely involved in providing additional help to each student, as well as a fantastic after school program. Each week there are after school hours set aside on specific days for assistance with homework. The After School Program (known as TAP) also provides elective classes ranging from swimming lessons (at the local Manitou Springs Pool) to art, to hiking, to fun areas focused on specialized needs (math, etc). TAP has high educator involvement, high parent involvement and high student involvement. Parent involvement comes in many forms at Ute Pass Elementary and is encouraged.
