We moved to Fort Carson from an affluent school district in Northern Virginia, my son had completed three years of French as his foreign language and the school he was assigned to attend (a district 8 school) did not offer French which caused us to search for a school close to Fort Carson that did offer French, in which we found Mesa Ridge DID offer French AND many other languages as well. My son transferred in to Mesa Ridge at a 4.1 GPA and had no problems at all with his teachers regularly challenging him to achieve greatness. The sports program at Mesa Ridge is great, the coaches of both the soccer and swim teams are encouraging and supportive. My son loved everything about Mesa Ridge High School and made wonderful friends there quickly. The kids were very welcoming and friendly to my son. Mesa Ridge had a phenomenal Foreign Language program as opposed to the other school in District 8 that only offers 2. The school is updated and very clean and the staff in the front office & guidance offices are always so willing to do anything they can to help assist in any way. I would give this smaller school 5 stars all around. This school wants your child to be a successful student.

I wasn't to excited coming to this school because of the look of the school... But the school isn't too bad. People that do attend MRHS are fair people. Some are cool, some are "fake", some don't take anything serious, like Academics. You get caught up in drama way too much. The teachers here are amazing. But my grades weren't... The sports here are good, gears are pricey, $80+ The people that do tryout a sport think they're better than half the girls/boys that do. I might attend a different school next year, because the selection of people here & my grades are falling apart... But it's a good school.

Mesa Ridge is practicing inefficient operations, that cost taxpayers, many many $$$$$$$ of dollars. The school board doesn't provide adequate oversight, an inconsistent contracting process. Internal audit system and serious security and privacy issues are off concerns!

We moved here at the end of my daughter's freshman year. Her first report card was all failing. She is a child that has struggled some, but never an all failing report card. I immediately started trying to communicate with the school and teachers about it. She took some summer classes to catch up and went on to start her sophmore yr at Mesa. Again, all failing and lots of struggle. I fought a losing battle to get some form of communication with the school. Finally, after arguing with the guidance counselor that my child would not graduate on time without some help, we decided to pull her out. She is now in her new school with awesome grades and amazing staff. The staff at Mesa was huge disappointment. I am so sorry to my child that we didn't pull her out sooner. The school as a whole seems to be a very toxic environment. Everyone is always on edge.. not just hormonal students. I am taking appropriate measures to make sure that my upcoming high schooler does not attend Mesa Ridge. It is an awful school for any student that isn't naturally an excellent student.

I am 2008 graduate of Mesa Ridge High School and I have to say that this school truly shaped me and prepared me for college. The academics were fantastic and the teachers truly cared. I never had any difficulty getting clarification or support in any subject. The music program is among the top programs in the state. The marching band is the 'pride' of the school and creates such unity between students. The Speech and Debate program is growing in number and talent. Mr. Garrett has absolutely changed the school in the most positive way. I was proud to be a Grizzly for those years, and I will always be a Grizzly.

I loved attending MRHS. There are many different extra-curricular activities to choose from. I was in softball, choir, and French Club. Academics were challenging and prepared me very well for going on to college. Teachers are well-liked, understanding, fun, well-prepared for all situations, and made classes interesting.

I am a parent of a 2005 graduate as well as a current student and another to follow in 2 years. Currently my student plays numerous sports and have to say I was extremely pleased with the new coaches brought in for football. I agree sometimes we just need to shake things up a bit. I am excited to see Mesa growing and emerging in all areas as it's 10th year comes to an end. I think 85% of the teachers are/go above and beyond the call with these kids and can definitely be praised for going the extra mile. I also feel that the office staff (Ladies that is you!) as well as Mr Garrett do a great job. I also belive Mr Sage is one of the biggest things Mesa Ridge has going for it! Can't wait for my next one to get there!

I am a former student at Mesa...I was involved in lots of different activities (forensics, theatre, cheerleading, stu. co.) And I'm also now studying to be a high school English teacher. The teachers, administrators, support staff, and students are all incredible. There's a passion that drives Mesa that I am so proud of. I recommend this school to ANYONE moving to the Widefield area. There's a lot of heart there.

My daughter graduated in 2004, The school provided a stellar education. I found the faculty to be honorable and fully committed toward the students advancement. The teachers were also very willing to work with parents to offer the best environment for the individual student. My daughter has gone on to college, but often remarks how well prepared she was by Mesa Ridge faculty. Her experiences in Forensics, Drama, English, Yearbook are tops in her book. She plans to be a college professor in English and Drama.

There is many things wrong with mesa ridge. For one they have a terrible sports program. For two a teachers voice is always over heard by a head guy in the office. Some times students may be telling the truth and a teacher lieing they need to questoin all students involved. Oh and if a student gets in trouble, that shouldn't effect his early release to lunch!
