DT School is in a very small community, which I originally thought would be a great advantage due to small class size, etc. However, at this time, this school is not using its size to its advantage. Academics in the middle and high school grades are poor, and though there is movement to change the teaching model, the immediate future is not promising for advanced or motivated students. The sports programs are good for those who just want to play because the emphasis is on everyone plays, not just 'let's win'. Other than sports the only other extracurricular activity is Knowledge Bowl during the winter months. The Superintendent is approachable, and I believe really wants to help, and there is little sign of physical violence, though bullying/teasing is common. When students are in 11 and 12 grade, they can take online college courses to finish HS credits.
An awesome school that has great teachers and friendly people. The football team is very supportive and no cuts are necessary. It is a fantastic place for young people.
A great school with small class sizes. Olympic sized indoor pool. Team sports allow all to participate without making cuts.
