Montclair Academy merged with Denver International School as of January 1, 2009, and the merger has benefitted all involved, most importantly the cihldren and families. It is a thriving school serving ages 3 to 5th grade, and likely will have a middle school beginning in the fall of 2011. It is definitely worth checking out at www.dmischool.com!
There are still some good teachers (all leaving after this year) and thank goodness we have one of them or this year would have been worse. This use to be a good school but all other aspects of the school (gym, art, IT etc) have seriously been going down hill!
Phenominal faculty. Making their way back after some hard times. Great school. Unique environment!! There is no where else in Denver like it.
I would love to get my child in this school but with such high fees how can one afford that. How much does financial aid help?
Academic programs are terrific. Montclair Academy is unique among Denver schools for its global citizenship curriculum. Classes are small and curriculum is structured. Japanese begins in the third grade, Spanish is kindergarten. The school recently launched a preschool, which should benefit from its association with music, art and other programs offered by the school. Our kids love Montclair. It's their home away from home. Montclair Academy will fast become Denver's best known secret.
This is a great school. The teachers are fun. I have a blast.
This is a gem of a school; teachers are concerned about their students in small classes and the parents are involved. If any problem arises you can be assured the parent population will be involved. The music and art have been outstanding in the past, however a change in personnel in music has been a bit of a disappointment. Academics is paramount, however we have been disappointed in the math instruction, this has been a weak link at this school.
Montclair Academy is a school that for the most part has good teachers, however, some are not able to innovate and inspire. The school has had difficulty retaining students because of its limited enrollment and thus very small class size. While this is often desirable in elementary school, it can be problematic in middle school. On the plus side, the school offers Japanese beginning in fifth grade and the few children who opt for this language education love it. It's truly a wonderful opportunity for children who are willing to take the road less traveled.
Very personal environment. Small class sizes. Overall excellent faculty with strong academics. Good preventive education program. Require 25 hours of parent service/yr.
My child has been at Montclair Academy for the last seven years and has enjoyed every level. The teachers are warm and caring while teaching in a traditional setting. I would recommend Montclair Academy to any interested in wonderful education, small class sizes and a true school community.
