Again, in general, the kids at Ricks are kind and respectful. The kids are aware of bullying and is a conversation worked into the classroom.

Supports LD students: Strongly agree

Teachers will meet with parents and then with each other to determine best path for your child.

Effective school leaders: Agree

Leadership is new this year and good things are happening!

Develops character: Strongly agree

The kids at Ricks are kind, respectful and bright. They are like this to me (kid-parent), to each other (peer-peer) and, with the multi-grade buddy programs, between middle school students and early childhood students!

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly agree

The teachers my children have and have had are outstanding! They research best practice, they communicate often, they work kids/families on an individual basis to determine best solution/path/level. They love and care and show it!

Amount of homework: Agree

In the 1/2 classroom, there are project-based assignments to do at home. Weekends are always worked into the schedule, before the the assignment is due. There are also options for reading, math and spelling - if you want more/less the teachers will work with you to accommodate what works best with your family.

Our son started at the Ricks Center last year in Kindergarten. I cannot say enough about his Kindergarten teacher and how much she did for our son (and our family). She supported him beyond any expectation socially and emotionally; she engaged and challenged him in all academic areas (field trips were a mainstay). And, even though there was turmoil at the administrative level, we were so happy with our child's experience in the classroom, we couldn't wait to have our daughter join her brother at Ricks this year! This year, both of our children are thriving at Ricks! I am happy to say, outstanding teaching is not only at the Kindergarten level! My kids, now in pK and 1st, love their teachers, love learning and love going to school! They are being met where they are at academically and are confident in expressing and advocating for themselves. Team teaching, multi-grade classrooms and the ability to go deep in subject matter is a great fit for our kids. At Ricks, we are so appreciative of what the teachers do every day with our kids! We love the low teacher-student ratios, the dedication to gifted education, and the social-emotional support our children get. The classroom "vibe" of learning, positivity and dedication has bubbled up to met new administration this year and great things are happening!

Save your tuition dollars and send your student to public school. Despite being a "gifted" school, the Ricks curriculum neither addresses nor exploits the student's giftedness. High school placement exams clearly demonstrate educational gaps stemming from Ricks curriculum and teaching approach.

Supports LD students: Agree

Great reading specialist and lots of differentiation both for those accelerated and those who need extra support, generally in the classroom.

Effective school leaders: Strongly agree

A whole new team and we are getting data, communication, and support for our children regularly. Hooray!
