Carson Elementary School

My son started Carson in 3rd grade and it has been a terrific experience. The staff is wonderful, his teachers have his best interests at heart. The parental involvement is outstanding and I am so happy that I chose Carson for my son. I was worried because of all the bad you hear about Denver Public Schools, but this school is amazing and I would not change a thing. The character education that they have at Carson falls right in line with how I raise my son and the small class sizes mean that each child does not get overlooked. I would recommend Carson to any parent looking for a great learning environment for their child!

Carson is fantastic! I observed the school before sending my kids there and recommend you do the same before making a choice. The positive atmosphere inspires my children to want to learn. I couldn't imagine sending my kids anywhere else.

The other reviews of this school clearly reflect a "group think" perspective and not the reality of the performance of this school. The families at this school are great but the teachers and administration at this school are very much sub par. Of the 1st through 5th grade teachers (i.e. 9 teachers) only 2 have a passion for teaching. The rest are typical public school under achievers. If your kids aren't in the HG program, the academic expectations of students are extremely low. Classroom discipline is a joke. Problem children are sent to the neighboring classroom for "time outs" so they can disrupt two classrooms instead of effective discipline being metered by the principal and the parents. In fact I have never known of parents being notified of their problem child(ren) even after two years of constant classroom misbehavior. My kids are shell-shocked by the clowns in their classrooms. The principal is nice and "available" but has done nothing to raise the performance of teachers or students. The teachers she has hired are big-time status quo under-performers. Even with the HG program Carson scores 20 points below Steck which is a mile away with similar demographics.

Carson is a great school for my grandaughter. It has small classes so the teachers can devote more time to each student. It has a counsellor who works to help the children develop social skills and learn to get along together. This is really important in these days of bullying and hazing.

This school has fantastic teachers who are truly devoted to children.

I love this school. Parents are very involved. The principal is awesome you can tell she truly cares about each student as an individual and their education. The scores speak for themselves. 2 of my children are going here. The Teachers are exceptional both new and old (seasoned) and although there has been some turnover I have been extremely pleased with the outcome. As a physician I have high expectations for my children I researched many schools both public and private and could not have hoped for a better school. Carson is an excellent mixture of professionalism and combined with a nuturing atmosphere that has allowed my children to have integrity , responsibility, respect and courage to try new things. there is no other place I would want my children to go.

As an educator myself, I think that Carson is a strong school. My son attends Carson, as a parent, I find the staff to be knowledgeable, dedicated and delightful to work with in regard to my child's education. I am thrilled with Carson!

Although my child had a ok kindergarten year at Carson, I have decided to attend a different school for 1st grade. Carson has lost alot of good teachers and I think its has something to do with the schools leadership, very sad!!

We have been completely unsatisfied with the overall experience and education our child has received at this school. If not for the cost of alternative education options, we would have pulled our child from this school long ago. Poor leadership, poor supervision and an incompetent administrative staff We are just thankful that our child is finished with Carson and came out in one piece. We could go on and on with other issues we have had with this school, but are limited to 150 words. All we can say is, try and do your job and quit just going through the motions. This school has been a disgrace.

Carson Elementary is an up and coming DPS. The principal is a wonderful leader and focuses on each student as an individual. There is a strong focus on both character and academics.

Carson Elementary is a wonderful small community oriented school that offers music, art and drama as 'extras' for all students on a rotating basis. Gym is offered on a 1 to two time per week schedule. My experience in grades K and 1 has been great. With the quality of teaching excellent. Level of parental involvement is average and growing with some star perfomers who have done excellent work over the past several years.

Carson Elementary is a multicultural school that provides for the needs of an accademically diverse group of children. The teachers and staff are fabulous! My family has been at Carson for 5 years. We love it! Check it out for yourself.
